Hi everyone! Welcome back to my Scrapping for Copper Series. Today we kick off episode 4 with 116 pounds of Uninterruptable Power Supplies. How much copper did we get?
I start off the video with a teardown of one of the Power Supplies. Both units are the same so I didn't want to bore you with scrapping 2 of the same units out on camera. I did the 2nd one off camera. "You can thank me later for that."
Once the copper has been removed, I weigh it up and then melt it down in my furnace. I then pour that sweet liquid copper into my graphite molds and cast 3 ingots from it. After a quick quench and cleanup, I have some nice shiny copper ready to add to my stack of copper. I have well over 200 pounds of copper sitting on the table, all of it rescued from junk.
If you like this video, please give me a thumbs up. Your subscription is always welcome. I appreciate each and every one of my viewers, regardless if you are subscribed or not. Hopefully you found the video interesting enough where you do want to subscribe. If so, please turn on the notifications so you won't miss out on any future content being published.

Thanks brother! It’s the quickest way to determine if the windings are copper or aluminum. If they are aluminum, I wont even bother stripping it down. I just save those up and cash them in. Thanks for watching! 😎👊🏼🍻

awesome tear down video! you know - not only for scraping, also the tear down and explaining what you disassemble.... melting part is boring for me, but hey, you are on right tray.... keep it up, and thanks for the clip!

Thanks brother! The teardown is one of my favorite parts. The melting isn’t for everyone but it’s necessary for me as I’m a metal stacker and it’s a lot easier to stack bars on the table 😉. Thanks for the positive feedback and thanks for watching! 🙂👊🏼🍻

Thanks bro, the only reason there was so much in them was because they were meant for servers. The home/office ones usually don’t have much in them 🙂🍻👊🏼

Wow! What all of that do you take in for cash? So you can get money from all of the steel and batteries too? What do you do with the fans. Can you tell I don’t know a lot? 😁
@Scrap2Cast
@Scrap2Cast Жыл бұрын
Oh that’s alright Lisa! The lead acid batteries, the steel and the circuitboards I will end up cashing in as well as those tiny fans. Before I bring the circuitboards in, I micro-scrap them and pull off the aluminum heatsinks, the relays and the tiny transformers. Thanks for the inquiry and thanks for watching! 🙂👊🏼🍻

I’m still undecided. They are a pain to cut into smaller pieces but I will do a little research to see the best / quickest way to cut it down.
