I totally understand your rant about tools not being brought back. The thing is you don't know its missing until you need it. That might be a month or longer. I've always had a small scrapping gig mainly to teach my sons some how to make money from things most people throw away. Their not doing it now but one day it will take something like this to survive. Most people look at it thinking its trash but a scrapper looks at it and see money. Scrapping since 1982 and still love it. Great video. ✌️👍

I once scrapped out a vintage Porter-Cable circular saw with a solid cast aluminum housing. It netted me nearly 6 lbs of cast aluminum, 3/4 lb of copper windings and a nice, thick insulated power cord (which I later used to restore a table saw for my wood shop). ☮️

I have been putting my armatures aside so whene I come across the right puller, I can salvage the bearings. They make great drawer rollers for my steel work bench.

You can sometimes use a flat blade screwdriver to remove Torx screws but it needs to be a tight fit.

i use my heat gun, cut the copper on each end then pull pieces out. sit in garage, listen to some music, and get'r done!! cheers from CANADA.

Those type of switches are good to keep around for projects or repairs. Brushes are made out of Graphite. Maybe save for possible DC motor repair.
@Okiescrapper3 жыл бұрын
I think someone said there was some silver mixed in with the graphite. not sure why they would do that
@onefixitman3 жыл бұрын
No silver in the graphite. Electrician replacing brushes for years. The brushes that have silver are used in wind generators and some commercial generators. We will not find them in power tools or small dc motors. They are very expensive.

Hey Allen, interesting video of some power tool breakdowns. I actually had an occasion several years ago where I had lost the blade retaining bolt from a skill saw. Fortunately, I had two extras in my hoard. I have also always saved all nuts/bolts, screws and hardware. The reason? Look at the price of that stuff in the hardware store... ☮️
@raboo32112 жыл бұрын
I do the same thing. A 55 gallon drum of nuts and bolts , washers and screws you have weight. I started scaping in the early 80's when not many people were doing it. You were looked down upon. Thinking we were dumb and the whole time I was pulling money out of their yards laughing all the way to the bank 😂. Its always been a passion of mine. Now that I'm retired I really enjoy it. Of course the money is good. ✌️👍

Craftsman did not want to honor the lifetime gurantee? Just joking. Good video. Keep it up. Happy to see an old school scrapper with 10K subscribers. I think you will get more. Your videos are entertaining as well as educational.

Thanks for the video. Yes I don’t like people taking my tools as well. Trying to do videos as well on scrapping. Mind I don’t think are as good as yours. Will keep trying.

I try to keep extras, the bit set I was looking for fell on the ground under the workbench by the wall. yes just keep making them you will grow, it's slow at first but it will pick up, the first 100 is the worst, just be yourself and do what you do, post 2 or 3 videos a week you will get there

Good video. I generally don't take them apart anymore. Not enough time. But they are a good source of copper. I haven't found one yet that was aluminum! BTW...you got a really nice shout out from Paul @ Scrap and Pallet Man yesterday!!

If it does not come apart then take my favorite tool to it....the angle grinder with a cut off wheel attached or 3 pound sledge with Hulk Smash ability. I don't think your old tool box/work table would take a lot of the Hulk Smash method.
