Scrapping armatures for copper. ARE THEY WORTH THE TIME, EFFORT AND MONEY TAKING THEM APART?

Hello scrappers and planet lovers. In this video, I do an experiment to see if separating the #2 copper from the shell of the armatures is worth the time , effort, and money. I will also show you some tips and tricks to help you separate the metals to help maximize your profit.

Excellent demonstration and showing the process. I do agree that, when I did this, some were easier than others to take apart. You also showed that some is not worth the time spent.

Here in South Africa we burn them to remove the glue and take them out easily

Thanks! I have a few of these from my grandfather and I kept wondering if it was worth it. I think another factor is whether you are set up to this regularly or if you just have a few lying around as a one-off. For one-offs it really doesn't seem worth it.

Those bearings on the shaft are Red Brass.

hello both, I am confused........ Those bearings are odd. I have a motor from the 80s that I scrapped and I have two of them. They are not yellow, they are not copper color, they are not something I can Identify. Color scratch test, metallic brownish grey color, says platinum but they are magnetic. I am baffled. I asked Okie Scrapper but he hasn't answered.

The round ball on the shafed is offien red brass and is more than yellow brass at the scrap yard.

I am using a small kitchen scale or a postal scale for under 7 lbs of material. Anything 10+ lbs is done on a human weight scale for approximations in lbs.

I find them fun too take apart but I personally don’t think it’s worth the time
