We're getting between £4.65 and £18.40 sterling depending on the grade on silver plated items here in the UK they buy it for silver recovery just a heads up

I used to scrap when I had my full time job at the distribution center. I made some good money before the price of steel fell out. It was 7-10 cents per pound. 500 pound load land you $40-$50, and then whatever the non magnetic items brought. Just part time on that, I could do $100-$200 a week. But the brass and copper you can bank, if you don't need to sell it and have a place to stock pile until you build it up. Some places, if you have more than a certain weight, they will bump the price up. So say rather than $2.20 per pound of copper, if you take in 40 + pounds, they may give you $2.45. Unfortunately, I jacked up my spine and lost my job and could no longer scrap, so lost all kinds of money.

So weird that at the time you posted this I had just lost my job at a factory because the steel prices skyrocketed & they had to offset the cost somehow, which ended up being my job. Any ideas on how to locate places that scrap? I've Googled numerous times & only find places that take cars.
@tjlock773 жыл бұрын
@@Jenna.Im.Just.Saying not sure if your location; but I found ours by searching recycling center. Even the car recyclers here do everyday metals also. Tin iron brass copper. Good luck to you in it.

I have scrapped for years. I never find any silver plate with brass underneath (at least not cheap enough to make any profit) But I do pick up scrap wire quite often, which reminds me I have a lot to get processed for when the price goes back up.

I have thousands of 20k gold plated E.P. brass spoons,are they worth anything?
@twisted22915 жыл бұрын
I got buckets loaded with brass, copper, aluminum extrude, and scrap silver. I take it all in once a year, and make good money with it. Not looking for the stuff, just pick it up here and there in auctions and storage unit clean ups. I'll get a call from a couple different places to come and remove the stuff left over. I also tear down old non working electronics for "P.M." recovery from them.
@commonwealthflipper5 жыл бұрын
So tell me what if anything do you do with normal cords for electronics. Cut them off and keep them. Is it worth it?
@twisted22915 жыл бұрын
@@commonwealthflipper Depends on what type of cord it is. I keep some for spares and testing. Sometime I get stuff that is missing a cord so I got one for it. I keep like 4 of every type I get. After that. I scrap them out. I just cut the end off and turn it in as insulated copper. House wiring I strip for clean copper value. Same with wall warts (power supplies) Keep a few, and scrap the rest unless it is something popular and sells on eBay.

Good video I recently sold some brass on eBay I tried listing it in small sets and had no luck I finally put it all together in one big 22 piece lot and it sold for $20 I think next time I run across any I'll just scrap it save myself the trouble

Hi have some silverware it’s written on Viking plate so copper what is that mean it’s real silver?
@oneloveboob7 ай бұрын
Means it’s most likely “silver plated”meaning it’s mostly copper with a thin later of silver on it. Most likely they dip the copper that was casted to shape the trays or silver tea sets etcetera, and I’m pretty sure what they do is dip the copper in silver and then smooth it out

I'm wondering if I have something unique and rare. I have a buck silverplate company from New York 1904 to 1914 this is a silver plate tray with a fixed bowl that is detachable with animals around the rim in fine detail. I'm wondering if you could help me find out more about this piece if so do you have an email to contact you?
@LedSledJoe2 жыл бұрын
Probably not my friend. Old silver plate is everywhere. It's beautiful but worth quite little. Try identifying the engravings on the bottoms, sell it on eBay. Cheers.
@jakobausterlitz8102 Жыл бұрын
Nope! Very scrapable.
@gmgssilverplate Жыл бұрын
I do not know if you still have this piece, but I would be happy to look at it for you. I have a specialist silver plate channel and I can say that Buck is a rare maker and something with animals will be collectible. Most people will not be able to distinguish common silver plate from rare collectible types.
