I supposed that you already stopped to post any videos on youtube, but I'm very glad to see new one. it's amaizing...)

Oh, hello Sergey! Thanks so much for the comment! I joined the workforce a while ago. That's probably the biggest reason why the videos got ever fewer. There isn't as much time to play around anymore.

I love watching plotters work, good job :) Looks very accurate!

Hey Chris. Thanks for the comment! It should be quite accurate. At least in theory. The biggest source of inaccuracy is the pen holder thing (made out of a notebook CD drives linear movement mechanics. The thing the laser would normally slide up and down on). Maybe you made similar observations about the source of inaccuracy in your machines.

Yeah i did, i found that if the pen travels past the point that it contacts the surface then any slop in the mechanism would cause the pen to shift a mm or so. very tricky to get it right. those 4 colour bic pens seem to work well in this case since the ink cartridge is already bent to make it out the hole and acts kind of like a spring. Pretty cool idea using an optical drive's laser sled though, i had forgotten about those things.

Funny how you get that kind of insider knowledge about which pen fits the machine best. I forgot that in your case, the hole thing including the pen moves up and down. Was impressed once again by that typesetting when re-watching the video. definitely thought about doing some multi color pen action. automatic switching might be worth considering. though the Gcode generation might be a bit tricky.

I luv playing around with this sort of thing, especially since i'm so crap at writing and drawing hehe. I recently bought vinyl cutter blades and a holder (ebay item 142347522268) which is ridiculously cheap for what it is. but it got me thinking that the blade holder and roland pens would suit a multi-pen setup. not much luck so far designing a gripper for it though but i'm sure one will pop up. would be real nice to have multiple pens and cutting blades available on a machine :) perhaps some sort of magnetic coupling would make it easier

How you make gcode
@ElectronDust7 жыл бұрын
I used Inkscape and the GcodeTools plugin. This plugin enables you to get Gcode out of a drawing like the one I used. Here’s a link to GcodeTools: github.com/cnc-club/gcodetools Sorry for not being able to give you a more detailed explanation. Hope it helps. Cheers.
