Karen has shown how a bite at a time with persistence you can eat a whole wedding cake and create a Masterpiece! You can talk yourself out of something but you can also talk yourself into it. Just make your current goal realistic. In my 60's I bought a retaining wall "kit". Then I could not find anyone to hire. I worked on it for 15 mins at a time and now it's finished and gorgeous!

I love this quilt so much. It may be my favorite of all the ones I’ve seen you make. It’s so my style! I’ve been making scrap strips for a few years, but I cut the strips from newspaper, since I didn’t have adding machine tape. I got in the habit of doing in between projects as a way to decompress with a little free-styling-no rules, no measuring, just mindless stitching, and we all know how good that feels. I’d been thinking of using them as a scrappy binding, but seeing them in your FABULOUS quilt may inspire a different direction. I’ve learned so much from you since 2021, with your incredible graphics and mathematical calculations. You could be called a Quilt Engineer. TY for taking the time to put together these exceptional videos. They are much more than entertainment. They’re a master class in the how-tos behind the creativity. 🙌

This is a wonderful, colorful, memorable quilt, Karen! You keep and use so many of your small scraps. I usually get rid of any scraps smaller than 2”. We have a wonderful recycling program, Ridwell, which has a category called “Threads”, which will take fabric scraps. So I bundle them into a worn out zip lock bag and toss them in the bag. But now perhaps I’ll start keeping even the smaller ones…. Thanks for another fabulous, informative video!

I have a great pattern for crumbs and scraps. It's an old quilt pattern with two different kinds of trees, and a house scattered here and there. I used the scraps for the trees. I did try and get yellows, oranges, reds together, greens, with a hint of teal, and some were different colors of burgundy and violet. It was gorgeous! I was surprised how simple it was, and how much thread I went through. I used bobbins for my top thread and bottom thread, and discovered how many bobbins I freed for a future project! There had to have been miles of thread in my quilt, but they were hidden well. Then I put it on my mother's quilt frame and quilted it by hand. I felt lucky to have the use of her frame, as my father and his friend made it for her birthday years earlier. He also put up a design board, and finished off an entire room in our finished basement that I helped my father complete. Carpeting, a wood stove for heat, a couch and chairs in a second family room with a TV set, a bedroom with a new quilt....all because my Mom wanted a proper place to sew. 😊

@@DH-qz2so Quick Quilts from the Heart By Liz Porter and Marianne Fons. The name of the pattern is Can't See the Forest for the Trees. There are pine trees and maple trees with 1-2 houses in each row. Very colorful. It can be dialed up or down in color depending on your taste. This book was purchased and signed by Liz and Marianne. We live about 35 minutes from Winterset, Iowa where my mother watched them teach some of "the new methods". The book has patterns for making templates for each pattern. We've both made each quilt at least once, with markedly different colors. 🙂❤️ This book was printed sometime around 1982 or a bit later. You wouldn't recognize them in the picture on the back cover 😅. This was when they started their weekly TV show on Iowa Public Television called Sew Many Quilts. The publisher is called Leisure Arts.
