So I went into Joann’s today to get some flannel for a winter quilt and got to chatting with the sales associate.. she of course asked what I was doing. I told her I’m a fairly experienced seamstress but am now taking up more quilting. As we chatted I mentioned your videos and how they’d given me the impetus to try more quilting. Low and Behold! We are both big fans of yours! Even though there was a well spaced line we chatted for probably ten minutes about our favorite videos of yours. We both agree the masking tape hacks and the dollar store finds were among our favorites. Well, you know how fabric stores are, within a few minutes two more fans popped up and one new convert! Just wanted you to know your videos mean a great deal to a lot of us out here in cyber land. Thanks for all your efforts! Greetings from Dayton Ohio!!

As I've scaled back my freelance writing business and have more time to quilt (YAY!), I stumbled upon your videos. You have a very welcoming and thorough way of explaining the process. I thoroughly enjoyed one of your very first videos - you're out walking the dog expressing concern over not having the equipment you may need, and then we see you inside, adjusting your shirt, etc. Hilarious! We would all do that! I'm having a wonderful time playing with fabric and my new Baby Lock Coronet Longarm machine. I have a lot of tops to finish up because while my Pfaff does machine quilt beautifully, pushing the fabric around gives me that back of the neck/shoulder strain headache. Gliding a couple handles around on the longarm has made the whole process fun, and your videos are part of my morning coffee! Keep up the good work, my neighbor to the north. (I live in New York state.)

Loved this video. I also put spiral bindings on my favorite and most used quilt books. My absolute favorite book is "Traditional Quilts, Today's Techniques" by Debra Wagner. I use this book anytime I want to do machine applique or any specialty stitches in a quilt project. I stitch out little samples and use an ultra fine point sharpie to write the stitch length and width and any other things I did like mirror or something else. I have more than one machine, so I also note which machine I used. I keep these samples within the pages of the book, so I have examples to look at so this gives me a head start when starting a new project. I have given several copies of this book as gifts. I look forward to your future book reviews. Keep up the great work. 😁

I'm sure Andrea will be very appreciative of your review, her book deserves it, it must have been a lot of work! That's a lovely idea to make that quilt, looking forward to seeing it when you finish. MJ Kinman has done a whole Gemstone series and has a book also, it looks like Andrea's might be an easier version of the gems, and MJ's is more advanced (more tiny pieces and more shades required), but it looks beautiful, you could review hers also. I love books, lots of them :) but here's a couple of ideas that might work well for your quilting style and interests :) I don't have any of these, they just looked interesting online :) Simple Geometric Quilting by Laura Preston, Quilt as you go - Jera Brandvig has several different books on the subject. Quilt Block Genius 2nd edition by Sue Voeglin, sounds an interesting idea??? Stunning 3-D Quilts Simplified by Ruth Ann Berry, looks interesting and may accompany your colour theory videos. I love the idea of Kalidescope quilts, what you can do with the little mirror and different parts of the print, Maxine Rosenthal has a few books on One Block Wonders, and a new one on Cube wonders. Another subject that might be good is Bargello Quilts, there's a few books out there for those, another one that works with colour selection :) Hope something in there helps :) thanks for your video's!

Hey, I don't know whether you still do the book video thing. But I bought a few books of the Kaffe Fassett quilt collective, because I really live the colours they use, which make those long winter days a bit more colourful. But find it quite difficult to vary the designs using my own fabric scraps and leftovers, because I simply cannot see in my inner eye, which colour combination will look good and daring. You are the colour champion, I know that, so maybe you could show us, with ine of the Kaffe Fasset books, how to make one of those colourful Kaffe Fassett quilts but with your/our own fabric selection?
