Hey guys I just left the 1200's after about being on them 27 years! I can say that Stanton STR-8's are the truth feel good and not cheap like most dj wheels of steel that are out there!

@Krzeecee Cartridges (needled) being used here are the Stanton 680.V3 and Stanton SM.V3.
@StantonDJ4Life14 жыл бұрын
@WTrev The ST model is the curved or "S" arm version. The STR8 model is the straight arm version. Both are high quality tone arm options. Neither qualify as "garbage". The biggest difference is the ease of tracking with the STR8 arm. With the STR8 arm, the cartridge is less likely to skip during heaving scratching.

@Neksotus You won't have to cut any wires. In the event I wasn't clear in the previous response: THERE IS NO BREAKING ON THE STANTON MOTOR OFF SWITCH. The Stanton motor off works the same way as the motor off on the Technics. Turn it off, and the platter will slowly decelerate to a stop. That is exactly what you said you want it to do. Keep in mind that if for any reason you choose to cut wires, your product warranty becomes null and void. :)
@BSIDEYoung12 жыл бұрын
Most DJs don't actually y set the tonearm height these days, nor the weight.. but both are supposed to be based on the type & weight of the cartridge used... if you use the ones that come w/ the turntables you're pretty safe with minimal adjustment. > if you change the headhsell or cartridge you may want to read the instructions in the manual to adjust properly for less record wear w/ minimal skipping

@sexyself45 Depends on where you purchase the stanton's it's actually $600 for 1 turntable
@StantonDJ4Life13 жыл бұрын
@Neksotus Actually, there's no reason at all that these turntables should respect "good old Technics" or "behave just like them". That said, they actually behave better than the 1200s. When the motor off switch is switched to "off" the platter does slowly decrease in speed as you would expect/want it to. The platter only comes to an instant halt when the brake button is used and even that is an option as the brake and start speeds are adjustable. The 1200s could not do that.
@StantonDJ4Life13 жыл бұрын
@Neksotus It doesn't. Where are you seeing that? I just watched the video you're commenting on again and I didn't see anyone touch the motor off switch. Regardless, check your in box here. I sent you a message with a link to a video that will show you that it works the way you want it to.

@kaveets24 The straight arm on the STR8-150 tracks (holds the groove of the record) better than the curved "S" arm. Especially when scratching or cueing up the record. If you plan to scratch, go with the STR8.

I own the Stanton ST.150 (s) curve tone arm. They’re great to me.

I'm interested in getting the St 150's. Not the St8's. They will still be great for scratching right? I mean 1200s had a curved arm. I'll plan on getting ortofon or M447's so skipping shouldnt be a problem right? Please let me know what you think Stanton.
@BSIDEYoung11 жыл бұрын
there is no Anti-Skate on straight tonearms so the cap is there but does nothing which is why there are no numbers on it. Only the curved tonearms have Anyi-Skate

@Djsilentblaze dude yo should try to do screwed & chopped mixes, it slows down the music so obviously scratchin, jugglin, ect,ect will be alot easier, its great practice, and maybe during the process, you would learn to appreciate the whole genre . .; ) . . .

They've been around for 10 + already. There's plenty of nackered up old Technics about.

cant wait to get a pair of str8-150's. $600 for a more than solid turntable, deal.

@StantonDj4Life . I've heard that the pitch control is not like old turntables , instead of beign analogue, it is digital. And with this digital pitch , it has a bit of delay like cdj on pitch , so it behaves differently,it not instant like other turntable using the pitch slider. Is that correct?? I really want this turntable
@sublime88sublime8 жыл бұрын
there is a button that will lock the song to its original pitch so you can speed up/slow down the sond without changing the pitch, which means it is digitized. But when that function is not ingaged, the output and pitch change from changing the playback speed is analog

Most vinyl DJs (at least one's 7+ years experience knew this)... It was not a secret if you went to Technics website it was listed as a subsidiary of Panasonic

Stanton, am thinking of getting a pair of these, what is the power rating, will they work in a region that's 240V output?
@sublime88sublime8 жыл бұрын
im not knowledgable in electricity, but the stantons have a computer that dictates the rpm to make sure its perfect, so more electricity wont make it spin faster
@SpKing8514 жыл бұрын
@djIXtwelve there both fukkin tight, but apparently the str8s are better for a scratch dj, but i disagree, but theres always going to be opinions from everybody, i suggest you go to your local guitar center, or sam ash, ect, & test em out yourself, tear em up, & which ever 1 you feel kept up better with your beating, you should buy, thats just my opinion . . . . .

the slip mats that the santon comes with are super slippery so they might not have been his style. its not an issue with the motor, the motor in those things have are the strongest motor in any turntable on the market. You couldnt stop it from spinning even if you stood ontop of it.

They're amazing but they weigh almost twice as much as the 1200s! D.

Actually it's not like old turntables, most say it's better because it's more accurate; and no it's not digital. (the only thing digital on there is the output if you wish to use SP/DIF or LINE output) Most DJs who depend on pitch are surprised by the accuracy and faster response (which comes from a Much higher torque than Tech 12's) - Don't get me wrong I'm not bashing 1200/1210's I still have my pair from almost 20 years ago - I'm just sayin' now there's something better ;)
