A few years ago I built a Star Wars diorama set for my Son's 3 3/4" action figures and in this video, I show you how I did it.
The finished diorama, based loosely on the structures as seen in Mos Eisley from "Star Wars - A New Hope", is constructed primarily from XPS insulation foam and a sheet of 9mm MDF, then textured with household filler (spackle) and painted with straight off the shelf emulsion paint. Various plant on details were made from styrene plastic and all manner of household items such as elbow joints from waste water plumbing fittings.
If you like this model and want me to make you one similar to it, feel free to contact me about a commission. My address can be found in the ABOUT page.

An interesting development happened today (19th of October, 2019); FOX kindly dropped their *COPYRIGHT CLAIM* on this video for its use of footage from the movie Star Wars - A New Hope. I did dispute their claim as soon as it came in, explaining that it was used for illustrational purposes as part of an educational video. Thankfully, they realised the mistake and released the video. As an experiment, I will leave both versions up to see how they compare with one another in their long term progress. It should be interesting to see how they get on. I'm happy now.

Thankfully, in this case, I won. But yes, you have to be careful and not abuse the idea of Fair Use.

. Last weekend my Son and I had a Garage Sale. I had a few modified Star Wars models stored in the garage, way up high out of the way in their plexiglass cubes (keeps the dust off). Along with my Steampunk flying ship creations. A fellow was interested in purchasing them. He bought a large Taun Taun rider I had re-sculpted from a toy. He said he was so pleased with it that he would place it on his desk at his work. And now, as several others have done, I am going to create the famous "Entry into Mos Eisley", Diorama. Your video is just perfect for referance. Thanks, ever so much.

Thanks for watching and I'm really happy that you'll be using it as reference. Unfortunately I just recently smashed this model up and scrapped it - it took up way too much room! Best of luck with your build.

Oh my, each bit of comedy surrounding the cat litter segment was golden. This project is so well crafted, very inspiring. I especially loved the machinery bit and how no one could tell what it was

I'm really glad you enjoyed it. The machinery was a bit of fun to do as well - plus it proved a point! Thanks for watching! I appreciate that.

The end results look great. It's amazing what you can make by sticking a few odd bits of plastic together and giving it a coat of paint. That sums up most of the star wars universe.
@PBProps
@PBProps 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yeah, it's fun that any old junk stuck together and painted looks like it would fit with that universe - it's the ultimate in kit bashing... or in this case, toy bashing.

The style works, saves you having to keep stopping and talking about it means you can crack on. The audio sounded great.

Ta. It certainly opens up other possibilities in terms of time management... also, if I've missed recording something on video, chances are I'd have a photograph. This is one of the reasons why the Tom Baker TARDIS model build video has never surfaced. I lost some footage - now that I can add pictures in the way that I always wanted to (with movement) I can go in and add in the pick ups and all isn't lost!

Nice! Many of these action figures (like Boba Fett, Darth Vader, Greedo, the droids and the stormtroopers) were made by "Kenner" and they came out in the 90's. I used to play with them as a child ❤️
@PBProps
@PBProps 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, these are the mid 1990's versions, I prefer my 1970's to 1980's originals, but they're a couple of hundred miles away, so we got our son a job jot that you see here - including the ships.

What a fantastic model. Always great to have some pieces to display the figures and for action figure photography. If you ever get around to adding more bits and bobs to it be sure to do an update video and maybe a little how too.

Thanks, I'm really pleased you like the model... And, oh yes - I'll be doing videos on any of the updates that I'll do on it. I'll probably even give it its own playlist if I do a series of updates on the things that I have planned for it. It's great to see folks interested in this kind of stuff, so that's really pleasing to me.

A nice piece which I would have loved as a kid - glad you exercised your right to the clip from the House of Rat, and there was me thinking they were after you for not spelling Lucasfilm correctly, by putting on your vid as Lucas Film

For the tatooine buildings I made I used newspapers dipped in C200 glue for the texture and on top I painted it with the same type of paint you used and then I used brown acrilic paint for the wash

Sounds good to me as there are always more than one way to achieve an effect. Nothing is set in stone and there is no "correct" way to do stuff, so whatever works for you is the main goal.

great!! I saw in the edge of one shot you seem to have got hold of one of the new b&m TARDIS sets, what are your thoughts on those as a whole?
@PBProps
@PBProps 4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I have very little to say about the TARDIS set, beyond what I've said previously. I do like it and it's my favourite of the flat roofed versions of the toy, but then again, I've been saying that CO should have done this version in the first place. My son loves it and it takes pride of place in his collection!

@@PBProps that is true, it seems very iconic and eye catching, what about the 5th doctor box? my only gripe is the weathering around the bottom, but its good they're using the sloped roof again.
@PBProps
@PBProps 4 жыл бұрын
The weathering is quite hit and miss at the bottom of the 5th Doctor box, but I'm somewhat miffed that they gave it the same base as the other. The original was better.

Do you think you can make and show how to make the workshop with a removable top and/or back for 6 inch or 1/12 scale figures for stop motion use?! I think you would do good cuz alot of stop motion maker's on KZbin that would watch you to make a good star wars diorama!
