There are probably multiple factors to the failure to fly, lack of washout will be a major one. I probably could have kept it on the ground longer, but it was out of trim and at full power I had no choice. It was completely uncontrollable, all i could do was keep it from rolling over.

I feel for you. I have just had an identical experience with my first ever balsa build a J3 cub, I followed the instructions to the letter and it was your comment about washout that has made me realize mine has the same problem ,no washout at the wingtips! Ah well I guess we both live and learn.

Ah man, sorry to hear that! Can it be repaired?

@@TheRCPilotsLog yes no problem but I'm still left with the washout problem, guess I'm going to have to make a new wing!😣

The classic DC3 tip stall. Great build though and hoping you will build a new one thats a little bit lighter

Is this a known tendency of this airframe? How would one go about avoiding it - is it too much weight? I would like to build a DC-3 someday, and I'd like to learn as much as possible... Thanks in advance!

Should have checked in on your channel a while back Rob. Admire your persistence. I wish there were more large twins out there. Better luck with the next one...

Thanks Dom! I’m yet to settle on the next scratch build, it needs to be big and multi engine! 👍🏻

Usually a way to test, hold the airplane/model, vertically, and crank to full throttle. A good sign is if the model is able to stay somewhat in the air barely holding it. *Probably needed a little more speed

So much pity. Hard work. Don't give up, let me know about the reoperation work.

Where did you put the cg ?, after watching all 8 egments I'm as disappointed as you. Too much techno - all that throttle/rudder mixing - KISS it goodbye, the ailerons looked wider at the tips also. I've flown a lot in a DC 3, as a passenger, they float up an down like being in an elevator
