I've subscribed a few days ago and I'm in love with the channel. The videos are amazing and I'm learning so much :D So many new techniques and projects to try! I also enjoyed Song Kang's appreciation of manga. Unfortunately there are still art teachers and institutions that don't recognize the value of comics/manga and illustration. I totally agree with her when she said mangakas are masters of their craft.

I’m really glad you’re enjoying the content! I personally agree, I’ve found that many times manga can go underappreciated even though it’s a very significant movement. You can find similar drawing tutorials here: kzbin.info/aero/PLvt8_pMl6ywmcgs6FLLMEzmBzELFnUnh4 -Marc Stier, Art Prof Staff

I love doing scratchboard.It looks like a woodblock or etching to me.I tried making my own with crayons and black tempera paint, because that was what was available where I work with dementia patients.It didn't work too well.It was very rough, and paint peeled off when scratching.It was fun though.I really want to do more of it.I'm impressed with the beautiful and intricate work that this artist has made.I havn't used India ink since I was a teenager, but I'm absolutely going to buy some.The sandpaper is a great idea.

This is such a beautiful channel! You are so wonderfully open minded about all kinds of techniques without being judgemental about any kind of style or medium and I absolutely love it! I went to a design school, instead of an art school and we didn't have art classes at all (sadly), so I always just had to improvise and piece together my knowledge from the internet...You would surely have been a lifesaver back then :D I'm really glad to have found you now, since I always feel like improving my drawing/painting skills helps me a lot in design related things, too, while also just helping me to get things out of my head. Thank you for your work! ♥ It means the world to me, especially as I am in a very restless phase right now and occupying myself with creating art is really helping me with my depression (...which is not the best topic to put into fashion design at all ^^")

When Prof Lieu is like "Scratchboard is less intimidating because it's already black!" Meanwhile I find scratchboard one of the most stressful materials to start because it's so permanent and expensive! :D I can only do it if I sketch extensively ahead of time.

The fact that we remember a ton of stuff while we are drawing has nothing to do with the way we see things. I draw while I am in church listening to a sermon, and for some reason I can remember the sermon and almost every word uttered when I draw, but wouldn’t necessarily remember if I do not. It is scientifically proven that doodling while listening to a lecture promotes memory retention more than when the student is laboriously taking notes. The mere act of drawing does something in the brain that cannot be explained but it can be experienced and understood if practiced.
@artprof4 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's really interesting! Maybe doodling in class should be encouraged, haha - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
