Thanks a million Adam I followed your advice and went from 37 putts to 29 putts in one round after practicing this technique for 2hrs. Best putting advice ever!! I used to employ the rocking shoulders stroke but now I'm all about fixed arms and core. Everything you say is right. Less moving parts means less room for error and more consistency. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for this! I can read breaks very well but have always struggled with the stroke, having been taught to roll the shoulders. Which meant letting my shoulders drive the action. Now it makes sense to me, because of your instruction! The shoulder are far from the ball and the core is closer. I went to the practice green and was draining more close putts than ever before!

I had poor results trying to lock-in my arms and keep them "dead" as per Dave Pelz and rock the shoulders. Your instruction to use the core is more of a solid feel than using shoulders with soft arms for a putting stroke. Your tip , albeit also with soft arms, also works better than an arms-dominated-then-shoulders putting stroke which some recommend. The core is indeed the power source, which is also exactly how I bring the club in the takeaway on my regular swing and indeed, for the entire back-swing, so this was a welcome tip because I can keep the same movement from the "box" (core) and not the "rectangle" (the shoulders).

This is great advice, my Dad told me another tip for putting, when you land the ball on the green, you wanna try to make 2 strokes at the most, the first to get really close to the hole and the second stroke to be a follow up shot so it goes in. If that isn't the case for anyone then it wouldn't hurt to have another go.

I have been struggling lately with my putting and noticed I have been concentrating too much on what the head of my putter is doing and basically trying to manipulate it without actually making it swing like it should. Seeing and matching the clubface alignment to the actual beginning target line. Locking the alignment of your clubface on that line. Using only one simple natural motion to generate force. Zero core motion. And a putter designed to compliment these actions. One hundred percent better than any conventional system for consistently rolling putts. And easy to check for problems. Thinking I might share the system if anyone is interested.

Thanks very much. Yes, I like a pendulum. Remember though a true pendulum does have a natural (gravitational) acceleration to it, top speed is reached at the bottom of the arc. Often people wrongly picture a pendulum stroke as same speed throughout. Hope this helps a little. Best, Adam

[memo for putting] 1. 퍼팅을 위한 움직임은 내부에서 나와와 한다 (not from 어깨/팔, but from central/abdominal inner core, with the feeling at inside) 2.

Hello - loving the videos as always. I'm really struggling with going past parallel in my full shots. I try and get a good hip turn and shoulder turn - which I do easily enough but then I lift too much with the hands and I end up with the club head way over and in front. Do you have any drills / swing thoughts about making sure you don't swing too far back? Where should I focus on getting the turn from? I get s really nice weight transition and rotation with the hips in my downswing but because my club is too far around it makes it very difficult to sync up and hit pure shots. Thanks!
@Scratchgolfacademy8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I'd encourage you to make sure the club is in good position at about hip high in your backswing. Often the golfer uses hands too much early and the club gets too flat, or horizontal at that point (down target line view), the result is it needs to be lifted to go up and get back on plane. John Daly did this and had a long and across line backswing. Of course I'm guessing at this point.If it's of interest I will be offering full video courses at www.scratchgolfacademy.com in about a month. The 'Fundamental Components' section has all the building blocks and drills, including a section on synchronizing club and body. Website is up now, but those courses will be available soon.Thanks again, and glad you are enjoying the videos.Best, Adam

Les,I think it's really personal choice. Things like feel are very intuitive, sounds like your way works well for you. I sense the weight of the club as it's swinging, that's what works for me.Best, Adam

Hi, just wonder if swing by using centre core, while down swing which miss the centre position, the club face will start to close or it also may cause a little bit side spin, isn't it? If it is, how to avoid it?
@Scratchgolfacademy8 жыл бұрын
Kent, Thanks for the question. It's a matter of inches and a few degrees. Not sure what your describing (side spin) is definitively related to using the core. Could be a number of reasons for it, I'm not sure just what though without seeing your stroke. Sorry I can't be of more help! All the best, Adam

Really appreciate your style and wisdom. I also watch Shawn Clement videos, who I also like and he has a video on putting in which he talks about looking at the hole as opposed to the ball. It does seem to help in getting better distance control, I tend to leave putts short, but it takes much getting used to to strike the ball consistently. Have you any thoughts or opinions on this approach to putting?
@Scratchgolfacademy7 жыл бұрын
+David Salmon Thanks David. Regards the putting, I think either is fine, whatever works best for you. Something like scooping at impact (full shot) would be a definitive no no, bet where you choose to look as you putt is personal choice. Best, Adam

Should the putting stroke (straight line or arc) vary with type of putter? I have a heel shafted putter and seem to have a hard time keeping a straight line and the arc stroke seems to work better for me at least....but I also have a center shafted putter ?????????
@Scratchgolfacademy8 жыл бұрын
Donald, There are differences of opinion here. Some say the putter makes no difference, others (qualified people) feel heel shafted causes face to rotate more, though maybe not arc more. I'd suggest that you don't try to manipulate stroke, either to arc more or less, it's very hard to repeat if you do. A lot of it is based on a good set-up and a well fit putter. Hope this helps a bit. Best, Adam

do you always keep the glove on while putting?

The part almost nobody understands is that the putter on the arc opens and closes RELATIVE TO THE TARGET. And they see that. It is not any different than with the driver. What they don't see is that the putter blade must stay PERPENDICULAR to the single tilted plane the shaft is riding on. That is sort of invisible. So because they do see the opening and closing of the blade RELATIVE TO THE TARGET, they unknowingly open and close the blade by even a tiny amount. They have no concept of how important it is for that to not happen because it is destroying the perpendicularity to the tilted shaft path plane. The tilted shaft path plane slopes backwards and staying perpendicular to it is not easy. This is particularity critical deep in the backswing and through impact. Two things really aid in holding that perpendicularity to the tilted shaft path plane. One is Tiger's right hand only drill. It teaches you to go UNDER and not CC around. You can't make 50 in a row from 6 feet until you go UNDER thus holding that PERPEDICULARITY through impact. The other is the big flat topped putter grip. It is easier on your brain to hold the tilted shaft movement plane. This is why every single touring pro uses that grip. The latest training devices that add that tilted path plane above actually illustrate this for the first time ever. These "on the ground" arcs only are essentially worthless. Even the people who make "the Putting Arc" sell a clip on device for the shaft it prove this as well. They just don't tell you how to use it. You need a stair step for it to work. The clip on device keeps the shaft from turning on the stair step above where the ball is rolling. That is the shaft movemnet plane. If you want to know how to get the ball started on line ever time, you gotta get down in the weeds. The few people who do do that we call touring pros. You do of course have to add Ben Crenshaw's RELEASE to all of that. That is another whole subject but is removes practice created timing which makes people think they are better than they actually are until the next day when once again they can't make a damned thing until that temporary timing comes back again.

Have to say I prefer the thought of my shoulders working in a pendulum motion and that's the way I teach. I find that students can get too much body movement with your interpretation although the end result is almost exactly the same.

Fair enough Gordon. You have to address the golfer in front of you, and make it as simple for them as you can. Best, Adam

I disagree Gordon. You should teach them what's right, but give them time to feel comfortable to the stroke. Personally, it does come from the shoulders, but not entirely. My pectoral muscles from the core also putt the ball. I'm #1 on my team and almost all of California. Many people have many different strokes that they feel comfortable and consistent with. However, it will change; and most people do eventually switch to close to what you described. It is a matter of generating the movement from the core. It is impossible to rock your shoulder like a pendulum without using the muscles in your core. Therefore you movement should be focused there solely. Just a thought

Pretty broad question George. Without seeing your stroke I'd suggest anything that get's the hands/wrists passive would help. Best, Adam.

The only perfect stroke is what's perfect for the individual player. Every video has a "secret move" or "magic move." The perfect move comes from practice after having the basics just as with every other club.

My search requirement was to show a great putting stroke. This video did not do it. What i was looking for was a video of a great putting stroke face on so I could emulate it.

Joe, For that just type in to the KZbin box something like 'Tiger Woods putting stroke face on' and plenty will pop up. Best, Adam

Why not use the same posture and stance you use for tap inns. You hole 99% of your tapp inns...so its effective
@Scratchgolfacademy4 жыл бұрын
MJ, I'd try for pretty much the same posture on all putts. I agree, tap in's are high percentage! All the best, Adam

@@Scratchgolfacademy Whole setup in golf is wrong. Its all sideways. Look Darts, Javelin, knife throw.....You face the target. So slightly open stance is closest to natural. For medium irons down to putter......you dont need full rotation anyway. Try it now. Even 25° open stance. Swing club at target.....you be surprised!

MJ, For me, if Jack, Tiger, Snead, Palmer, Bobby Jones, Hogan etc don't do it that way, I'm sticking with traditional. No worries, hope it helps you. Best, Adam

@@Scratchgolfacademy Hi hi...Jack and Tiger's putting posture is kind of very different. Im aware trying to help players. But one ever get better without hours of repitition. You might agree from your own experience its frustrating to e aware that client/student in fact expects the lesson itself to improve his score. Impossible. In my opinion real results only come when teacher/student spend at least 5hours(minimum) together for 3 month period. I dont coach.....my concience will kill me taking dishonest money. I hope covid19 contribute to huge changes over whole golf spectrum.....from clichés.....richmans game....to corrupt brand names.
