you saved me. here I was thinking I was doing good because my ball's were nice and straight. Nope. Didn't realize my release was awful. Thanks for the help!

This is my # 1 issue and according to my golf. pro always has been. I just worked around it with swinging more from inside with an exotic plus 10 even with a driver on club path which if i was on could fix it. Finally i have been working on using actual wrist release instead of just brute strength with a bad release. The video of the amatuer you showed looks almost identical to my swing before I shortened swing and now getting arms and wrist involved more. The chicken wing is a killer but i believe more likely to stay longer for a golfer who is athletic and strong with similar upper body strength like the Amatuer you showed and myself. Often times we can muscle the ball and still manage to get 95 to even 100mph swing speed with a poor release and a chicken wing by using are strength. It is so taxing on our bodies so recently using the correct release and with what feels like a half swing and half the power i am generating the same swing speed as before. I am excited to keep improving on and and then start incorporating my power back into the swing which I believe will then finally make me a long hitter at the age of 44 which is crazy to think about. Right now i feel like i am tapping it with just all arms and wrist and hitting my driver around 230 without using an ounce of body. sometimes just with my feet together.

So I play, and want to keep playing a natural fade. From what I get from this video I can't fix my slight chicken wing follow through AND still hit a fade?
@Scratchgolfacademy10 ай бұрын
No, you can still fade it. Just heel ahead of toe a bit more at impact. Sounds overly simple, but that would do it
@shmirginhymer186710 ай бұрын
@Scratchgolfacademy Heel ahead of toe, assuming to leave the face open at impact. In to out would just give me a super high balloon slice. To hit a proper fade you would have to swing slightly out to in, but according to these instructions it's not possible without "chicken winging". Just trying to figure out other methods to get rid of it in my follow through
@Scratchgolfacademy10 ай бұрын
Plenty of great faders over the years on Tour, no chicken wings. Your dealing with just a few degrees of face angle at impact
@SureShanksALot9 ай бұрын
Yes you do still need an out to in club path for a fade.

Hi Adam, I was really struggling with the 'chicken wing' in my swing, I've watched this video and the 'snap' tip has really worked for me. Yesterday I shot a 1 under 69 which is the first time I've ever broke par. Level par or better is what ive always strived for. Cannot thank you enough 🙏

I'm not slicing so much anymore, but I noticed my chicken wing and I think it's what robs my distance. Anyway, I can't wait to practice this drill. Thanks!

Hi Adam, my normal shot is a draw with in/out swing path, but I do have a chicken wing, especially with the driver. when I try your punch shot with the left elbow tucked in I’m not able to complete the swing. Just get a sawn off follow through and less distance than the chicken wing swing . Any thoughts? Great channel 👍
@ScratchgolfacademyАй бұрын
Thanks Dean. I’d mix and match the punch shot drill with full swings, see if they blend.

Adam, Great session here and nails some of my issues back when we got together in the fall. Don't review my swing then because I don't want to make you sick again LOL. What helped me along these same lines, when I came back was to keep my right elbow as close to my left elbow throughout the back swing. I even try to keep the right elbow pointing at the ball to keep the check wing effect. Does that make sense? The other thing I have been working on is swinging as slow as possible to the top of the backswing and even slow for the first foot or so throughout the down swing and let natural momentum take over from there before the natural element of speeding up occurs. I need to send you a short video of where I am now. Thanks for all you did with me including the pitching and sand shots. "Nuck"

Hi Adam, have been trying to work on the snap drill you mentioned. On this video, I m having a hard time not shanking the ball … any advise? If I do just a little swing 9 to 9 I have good contact without trying to snap and have the rotate look. Then on a full swing it becomes a chicken wing😢
@Scratchgolfacademy Жыл бұрын
I have a shank video at this channel I hope you’d find helpful. It’s hard to be specific without seeing your swing, but I’d do the 9 to 9 drill with more and more speed

I predict that Chicken Wing is the wave of the future in the golf industry. It completely takes the hands out of the putting stroke and relies totally on a rocking motion of the shoulders. I plan on implementing it tomorrow.

The snap makes me think of a punchy shot, at full speed what does it feel like? Also do you have videos of swing depth that help with the in to out swing path

How do you turn the wrist down while keeping floppy wrists? Thanks!
@Scratchgolfacademy3 жыл бұрын
David, I hear you that there are challenges. The wrists should be 'floppy' or passive as you change direction. Near impact there should be a firming up, snapping into a firm position one could say. Play around with it, you'll find a feel that works. Best, Adam

I actually have started to get this feeling, but almost imitating a regular low punch shot, to get under a tree for example :)

The wrist early release causing the drag is a big reason

@HolyGrailOfGolf3 жыл бұрын
The chicken wing is caused by the player attempting to move the clubhead toward the target in a futile belief that it'll make the ball go that way. That's not how a golf club works ... or the human body for that matter. You can only swing outward you cannot swing sideways.

Hm, so it's not the body accelerating, it's the clubhead has to accelerate.

@Scratch Golf Academy I agree wholeheartedly! I always thought I had a fairly decent swing. That is until I set up my iPhone to slo-mo my swing. I couldn't believe what I saw! Gave me a whole new perspective on why some of my shots did what they did. I'm a firm believer now in self videos. Glad to be a SGA member. Adam knows his stuff and is very good at teaching it. Not every good player can teach effectively.
