Good episode, but I really don't like when you guys spoil every movie in a franchise. There's plenty to talk about with just the first Scream.

I think wes craven is making a statement on how ideas shape art and then art shapes culture. So you have art reflecting reality or reflecting an individual idea(s). But this film flips that premise and has reality imitating art in a way that may make you think that Wes craven thinks there are no original ideas left. At least not in the horror genre. Only copies of copies. Very much like the statement 'cabin in the woods' makes. The killers were going to use the knowledge that art shapes culture as their alibi and actually claim they weren't responsible for their own actions or ideas, or their interpretation of the art. Instead they were blaming the art outright. Which is a commonly used lazy tactic to either regulate art(media, video games) or evade responsibility for your own individual choices. Essentially it's a war against the creativity of an individuals mind. The fact the mastermind killer came from a broken family and lacks a father figure at a critical point in his life(teen years) seems very important as well. These are your most at risk kids who can be influenced by this type of entertainment. Low to no self esteem paired with confusion and anger and Noone to guide them or teach them how to cultivate values. They're lost and feel worthless, and they project those feelings onto everything and everyone else. So really this could be Craven saying 'enjoy art responsibly' and think for yourself. Introspect and cultivate your own values, hopefully with the help of a mother and father who are attentive to you. Don't just let a group or a movie or religion hand you your values. Really think on what's important to you and forge your own path.

He didn’t like pulp fiction and his favorite Tarantino movie is death proof. Which is interesting because it could be described as the most Tarantino of his movies
