01:10:17 I have never seen this moment being flirtatious. I always saw it as Dewey subverting Gale’s assumption of his “aloof” presence that she portrayed in her book. So when he snaps back at her with the “nice streaks.” he is showing her that he has the ability to be just as catty as she is. Also, he had that snarky expression….

No way is the "nice streaks" moment flirtatious! Dewey is absolutely taking a stab at her in that moment, especially considering his facial expression.

@@thecherrypicker I always interpreted it as him flirting. He still hasn't gotten rid of his angry face which is only half angry anyway, but he's paying her a half hearted compliment because he's still in love with her. I've always loved Scream 2! It always flip flops with the original for my favorite in the series. Other small details in it that I appreciate are that Mickey has a clear love with sequels in a lot of scenes, alluding to his motive. Also that Tori Spelling ended up playing Sidney in Stab, when Sidney says in Scream that "with her luck they'd cast Tori Spelling" with who would play her. And I live near the college campus used for Windsor College! I've visited a few times and it's crazy how it still looks the same 25 years later. Funny enough, it's an all girls catholic college but was not asked to leave while wandering around in a Scream shirt taking selfies.

One of things I like about the opening is how it feels Wes Craven is responding to his critics about the impact of violence in cinema; i.e., that audiences are clearly able to distinguish between real and screen violence, and that while they might gleefully participate in the latter, their reaction to a real-life violence is grief, horror and a powerful desire to stop it happening.

I do not care what you anybody has to say. I will 100 Percent ALWAYS watch this film over the original. It levels up the material is such a strong way, setting the bar the highest the series has ever tried to meet since. The look of the film, the setting, the cast, the body count, and the subversive ending of the film not being a party that everyone gets killed it. The killers and motives were also the most realistic. A mother seeking revenge for the (justified) death of her son, and her hired hand, a self professed serial killer who wanted to get caught (the only killer in the series wanting to be caught). Epic death scenes, 3 people killed in public, the most racially diverse until 5, unique in its setting not taking place in Woodsboro, and a much better Whodunnit than the original. So many reactors never figure out who the killers are. There’s also the commentary of Hollywoods fetish for profiting off of real crimes. I would add that there is tension built in multiple areas in the film, in several points the “Bomb Under the Table” motif is used, with Both Maureen and CiCi. Lastly, one word… “STAB”. This is the only sequel that contributed the most to the lore.

From what I remember, in the original script Joshua Jackson was supposed to get the Aliens line wrong and Jamie Kennedy was supposed to correct him. People cheered together when the Falcon came on screen and when Han and Chewie showed up. We all screamed together when Han died and gave a roaring applause when Luke was shown at the end. I feel like it always enhances the experience and I would have LOVED to have been in a theater similar to this (as Zack said, maybe sans the murder lol) love the pod guys keep it up.

It takes kind of a sad approach when you realize that earlier in the movie when she's talking to Dewey she flat out says " what am I supposed to do, cut everyone off and crawl under a rock?" And she literally has to do that in 3. Like after everything in this one, she knows that she can never get away from it and the only way she'll be safe is to pretty much disappear. Which is such a depressing life to have to live.

Just watched this the other night. Held up really well. It was first time watching since part 5 came out. I've always loved the sequel commentary in this one. This one does feel better connected to the original than the other sequels. Right now all the sequels except 3 are close for me in terms of quality. Scream 2 does have one of the best soundtracks of the 90s, even if used a little jarring in a couple places. You can kinda see in both the cast and soundtrack that this is a high budget follow up to a smash hit. It's like a who's who of the 90s. The first film's soundtrack is also great but is very different despite just 1 year difference. Also Courtney Cox never looked better than the beginning of this movie with the black dress and dark hair. Someone once told me they thought I looked like Jerry O'Connell. I have a similar haircut to him in this movie.

So I thought on it and this is how I try to justify Sidney going to the theatre at the end for the climax. I think about it from my own college experience. If I was running from a killer and got back on campus from the front of the school, the campus security is located all the way in the back. I would pass up about 5 or 6 buildings with people inside before making it there. I would probably go to the building I am most familiar thinking someone would be there. In my case the library. I think Sidney at this point would be looking to just not be alone. Since she was a theatre major her thinking may have been just to her around people and since the play is days away people would be in the auditorium, people she probably knew. Just my two cents.

Gale goes through the most character growth here, Sidney has a little bit more experience in terms of self-defense, has the second best Ghostface Killer (Mickey), and has the best opening kills (I know, blasphemous.). I only have two complaints about this movie: 1.) Randy's death - I know the movie needed some stakes, but c'mon it's Randy Meeks. 2.) Derrick - I'm not gonna lie, he bored the hell out of me. I didn't care for his relationship with Sidney at all. I honestly think she should've hooked up with Randy instead.

Mrs. Loomis is my favorite ghostface, her motive, her crazy, her eyes! It’s so juicy and good, I just love a revenge tale! Mickey is so sub par to me, on level with Charlie almost, same with hallie. Their characters are so underutilized that when they go or are reveled, I’m just bored with them. The third act, it’s clunky, but it it still a great sequel!
