Fun Fact: Tori Spelling actually auditioned for the role of Sydney in the first movie! When she was waiting outside the casting room she read the line in the script where they were making fun of her, but decided to still go forward with her audition, and she said when she walked in the room the atmosphere changed. They were putting their heads down, avoiding eye contact with her, it was real awkward😬 Afterwards, the director, Wes Craven, called her and said that she didn't get the part, but that he appreciated her coming in and would keep an eye out for her in the future. Fast forward, Scream 2 gets green lit, they come up with the Stab movie idea, & that's how we get Tori Spelling in the sequel! Also I didn't realize that the girl playing Casey in the Stab movie, is Heather Graham🤯

Aww that’s really nice that Wes Craven called her and gave her another try Omg at the time, I couldn’t pinpoint who she was but I knew she also looked really familiar. The amount of cameos in this movie was crazy!

Sarah Michelle Gellar wasn't in the movie long but she ate up that chase scene. The spirit of Buffy LIVES within her, she put up a good "fight" for a little while. This was the first movie in the Scream franchise that I saw. Solidified my love for Sydney as a final girl.

The fact that they made fun of Tori Spelling and then got her for the second movie is iconic. I have an unrealistic dream about this franchise where Netflix or something would make a series of Stab movies -- how meta would that be? You could watch the whole first stab movie. You could watch fake future stab movies, like imagine if they hired Tori Spelling to play Sidney in this campy version for real? Also Scream 2 is actually the best out of the franchise. They gave us romance between characters during a slasher and we loved the couples? You see Ghostface in the background of some scenes lurking (no other Scream does this), there is serious suspense scenes (like having to crawl out of a car), the massive massive celebrity cameos.... Scream 2 is the best.

I'm with you on the killers being lackluster, though keeping Sidney and Ms. Loomis apart the entire movie makes that reveal a little more surprising. Randy deserved better, too. Overall, I have it as the third-best in the franchise, behind the original and Scream V.
@jordancazzell51693 ай бұрын
The scene with Dewey and Randy discussing on how to catch the killer(s) by making some suspects being some of Randy's friends make sense since he said it himself in the last movie that he yelled in the video store that "EVERYBODY IS A SUSPECT!" So when dewey told him that these kids are his friends doesn't matter.

The great thing about the Scream films were they were so self aware, in that it even though it is a serious subject they constantly refers to old Horror films and makes reference to the plot of them etc. It also spawned superb sequels, each one of them is great too and well worth a watch. You gotta do all the sequels, the writing is just so clever. Sarah Michelle Gellar ( Buffy herself! ) is here in Scream 2, but can't use her slaying powers here. Really top female actors in all the Scream films Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox (the constants), Drew Barrymore, Rose McGowan, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Heather Graham, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Rebecca Gayheart, Emily Mortimer, Emma Roberts, Hayden Pannettiere, Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, and they are just the ones I can remember! The plots are just so clever you will love them. You gotta do all the sequels.

Throughout my life, I've made an effort to avoid the Scream movies cause I hate slasher films but I will admit, watching them now, while I still hate the parts that makes the movies fun (the bloody killings) I do find myself enjoying these movies and seeing why they're so beloved even though I've only watched the first 2 which might be enough for whimpy me. I do love the making fun of themselves aspect of these movies though.

One of the rare instances a sequel can build upon the first movie and can be just as great as its predecessor did. Sidney is no doubt a badass but what I really loved about this movie showcases her other strength her empathy. Sure she was fearful of Cotton and was valid in her suspicions of him but eventually she understood he was just as much a victim of Billy and Stu as she was and in the end she ended up trusting him. Micky wad just an attention-starved jabbering little prick so he his motives as one of the killers was uninteresting but Mrs. Loomis as the killer was a great reveal revenge for her son was a parallel to Billy murdering Sidney’s mom it was poetic. Also notice how she never interacted with Sidney until the reveal because she knew Sidney would immediately recognize her. Hope you get to the other movies at some point.

27:15 Doing a really good impression of that goat meme from like 8 years ago..."whatwhat? whatwhat??" So I was in junior high and high school when the first 3 of these films came out, was well out of college when the 4th one premiered and I think I saw some of the anthology series...but around 2012, this concept, these films, they had all just become "6 degrees of Scream". I'd seen them all at that point...I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend, Halloween H20, Disturbing Behavior, Carrie 2, Teaching Ms. Tingle, Wes Craven's New Nightmare, any number of their sequels. The formula was more or less established in the 80s, but the first scream film created a whole new generation of clutch films. Jada Pinkett Smith and Omar Epps in the beginning of the film? Perfectly compartmentalize the draw of these movies: go to a dark theater, eat salty/sugary food, have your girl scream and grab at you during the spooky parts of the movie, leave the theater relieved at the happy ending and HORNY AS HELL. I think it's called the 'funeral effect', because the same thing happens after people go to a wake or burial: they need to feel alive and connected to others after witnessing death or seeing the process of what happens to all of us when we're finally dead and buried, so...they screw. A lot. It's a vindication, of sorts, as well as a satisfying middle-finger to death in general. Problem is...the formula is getting tired and the rules leave only so much room for variation. Sherlock Holmes novels and other great mystery writers ran into the same problem during the early days of pulp murder publications. As long as the story establishes, early on, that the characters and plot are bound, more or less, by the same laws of physics and social constraints as our own...you kinda limit yourself by the twists and turns available to you as a writer (or film maker). The killer has only so many possible identities: someone known to the main character(s), someone peripheral in the background that teases their possible involvement, someone random seeking attention or someone wronged/effected in a way not shown on screen, only mentioned or yadda-yadda'd earlier in the film. "It's the mother of the guy killed in the first film....no, it's a relative who blames main character for some unmentioned slight or offense...no, it's someone random who wants to continue the story but with themselves as the main focus...", it's some variation of these almost every single time. The same goes for the exasperation with watching people do stupid things in these films to facilitate a body count or shock factors or emotionally manipulative plot point. Dewey dies in Scream 2022...not because it served any particularly appropriate narrative or really furthered the 'story', such as it is, but because it was literally the only thing left to do with him. He's not a final girl/guy archetype, he isn't the significant-other of the lead, he's survived goodness-knows how many stabbings and shootings and falls and bludgeons...the only thing left that his character could do is...die. The audience feels something related to his death, yes...but only because he distinguished himself as a memorable character, not because of the quality of the film. The clutch films have lost their 'grip' as it were; they can't sustain the same suspense and grit that they did 25 or 35 years ago. The audience is 'on to them' now. I liked these films, once, a lot, I really did. But I can't help but feel a lot of frustration at the apparent need to beat franchises into the ground until their IP is flat, boring and predictable. Innovation gives way to audience compatibility...and suddenly we're not screaming anymore. Great vid, fun to watch you sus-out all the clichés and plot-holes, reminds me of my sophomore year Art Medium Analysis class in college. I miss when these things used to scare me...I hope I find another franchise that does. 😮💨😆
