It’s such a trip learning the actual house layout. Since childhood I’ve always just had a vague idea of each room but not how it all connected. Interesting how it’s so accurate to how the scenes are staged as most modern films are not like that at all!

In most movies, the exterior has very little connection to the interior of a location. They tend to build the interiors as sets and then get another unit to film some location for the exterior shots. It means that very few films have "rooms" that are actually connected to each other (hence the gag in Scream 3 with Sidney entering a doorway to nothing). And films almost never design their action around the actual layout they're working with.

I think that DBD only got the rights to the mask/outfit of Ghostface, not actually one of the Ghostfaces in the movies.

It's how they ended up with the more generic version of GF with a backstory inspired by the later Scream movies instead of direct references like The Pig or The Shape. Its also why the game has Platinum Dunes version of Freddie's design and backstory, and Quinton as the survivor instead of Nancy. The differences between the two versions of Freddie are relatively minor outside of a few lines of backstory and the occasional addon description, but developers knew trying to sell a non-Heather Langenkamp Nancy survivor would go over like a lead balloon so they went with Quinton instead.

I live in Sonoma county, and last year I tried taking a drive to all the different SCREAM locations. That house is Tomales, Sydney’s is on the way to Calistoga, Casey’s is by Glen Ellen, and Tatum lives in Downtown Santa Rosa by the junior college. So it’s pretty funny to me thinking that none of these characters would actually be in school together. Stu would be going to Petaluma High, Tatum would be Santa Rosa High, Sydney would’ve been a first year student at Maria Carrillo High, and Casey would’ve gone somewhere in the city of Sonoma. Also, if Billy is the killer in the beginning, I wanna see how many times he got caught in poison oak or blackberry bushes while hiking to Casey’s place, cause there’s a driveway on a one lane road to get there, so he would’ve had to park down the road and hike with Steve then get back to his car afterwards and drive another hour or more to Sydney’s house in the same night, he must’ve gotten caught up in some mud or thorny plants or something... For things to happen like they did in the movie would be nearly impossible, all I’m saying’.

Trivia about Scream 3. "Stu" was slated to be the killer. Matthew Lillard was suppose to come back to reprise his role. His character DID NOT die in first movie. Matthew was allegedly paid to be in Scream 3. Then it all changed. Sadly.

There's nothing that truly suggests Billy was watching the TV when Sidney pops out with the umbrella. He could've been simply staring off, trying to focus his hearing. Or maybe he caught a glimpse of Randy gaining consciousness on the ground in the foyer. You also say it doesn't make sense for Sidney to jump over the bed and past Ghostface in the bedroom, but you have to remember this is Stu's house, not Sidney's, so it's entirely possible she hadn't ever been to Stu's house before, and so maybe didn't know the layout of the house or where the stairs behind her led. Sidney was probably just trying to escape through a known exit, which was the way her and Billy went into the room. As for the "fake window," they could've actually been decorative curtain dividers used to just separate the two parts of the room. So BOOM, all problems solved! You're welcome.

It's cool to find out that it was the room they started in because I always wondered how he did it. But it's a red flag that it's Stu as they knew the house really well. And Matthew is so good in Scream you know he's the killer and you still kinda like him.

I love this video!! Even as a kid I used to try to work out the floor plans of movie houses, especially when the house is essentially another character in the movie. This house had confused me initially for the same reasons discussed here - where did the staircase to the main bedroom come from, what’s with that hallway above the front door, how did Billy see the TV from the hall closet, and why isn’t the TV room in the front of the house based on how Dewey and Gail walk in? It’s always fun touring places used in movies. When you understand the geography of a particular area, it seems like it adds a new layer of depth to the film. This in particular was quite illuminating, and I’m not sure I’ll ever watch that finale the same way again.
