Deciding to not become intoxicated is not difficult. Poor judgment on the part of those employees. Do people really need to be drunk to have an enjoyable event? Sounds like Harry's attitude to life. . And if there isn't a clause in their employment contracts referencing certain degrees of behaviour perhaps there will be from now on. Want to get drunk to have a good time? , do it in private at home.

@@alycedrimer6922 over the years, I went to many office do’s and never got drunk in any of them. Why? Apart from anything else, I used to have to get myself home by bus or train. I might add that I have always had to pay either something towards the office do and if we went out for dinner, paid that myself to.

Before I was an Author/WFH it is true that I attended several Works Christmas Parties. (Mind - more than three glasses of champagne; & I tend to be wanting to go to sleep) - but even so I never drank more than three - bc it's never a good idea at a work event. (I never do though) I'm very petite & tiny slender + the afore mentioned sleepiness is a real thing) Some ppl unfortunately get onto the Tequila shots + more though + forget how potent all that is (& then within half an hour or so cannot remember their own name😱 basically (+ if the boss is Paying - well some ppl drink like there's no tomorrow🤭) I've seen the results of that two or three times - espc at one Works Christmas Party😶 (which was a huge event at a Company I worked for every Year apparently) The Boss didn't give out a Christmas Bonus (even to Management/Executives🙄🤭) - but held a huge party at a nearby + very nice Hotel. (Very nice!) Booked the whole place & the Party went on for about 7-8hrs at least; from about 6-6.30pm (including two sittings for a very nice five course meal) - they even had a large marquee & it was all very spangly; there was lots of music+ dancing & an MC etc (& for some reason always on a Tuesday Night!) every Year + Everybody had to be in work the next day😖(Some ppl were sleeping at their desks + not in good shape the following morning at all) & some ppl didn't remember anything the next day🤒 (which was a blessing + something to be thankful for tbh) bc if they could have seen themselves after they imbibed enough for three ppl😵 they would definitely not want to know. (Tequila in particular as far as I could see is not wise) One girl in particular claimed the Next Day that she had never had Tequila before🤔 (although I was a bit suspicious) bc she didn't she didn't seem to have any qualms about imbibing any/all kinds of alcohol that night🤭 (braver than most I thought) but then also the next day we heard that at some point after about 1.29am (when some of us went home or back to our hotel rooms depending) she decided to go tripping around the edge of the marquee for quite a while (doing goodness knows what or with whom we did not know) & at some point she had actually fell into the into the swimming pool (ergo one of the Hotel Staff had to jump in & rescue her/fish her out of there (she did not turn up the next day at all - which was something the boss frowned on I was told) but not us had seen the swimming pool (which had been cordoned off + sensibly hidden by the far point of the marquee since the middle of the morning) Turned out they had some kind of carnage every Year apparently (it was all a bit hard-core I thought as the night went on🤭) but all very good naturedly (No fighting at all) I only went to their Christmas Party once though bc I was only there about 10months (I abhor all kinds office work/answering phones to angry customers) but did do that for quite a while for various Companies. (I still have PTSD whenever I see a row of computers/phones/desks🙈 it is true) but I took PhD + did those jobs in between. Thankfully I now write from home/anywhere but I remember the daily 2hr commute🫣the endless grinding boredom/huge stress (& you can understand why some Office Workers really do throw caution to the wind at the Christmas Party) Fighting not so much though! Still - the RF don't particularly pay that much more than private companies but I'm told they are nice to work for/plenty of perks🙏🏻🇬🇧✝️✝️

From what's been said by others is that this woman was throwing glasses and so it could have been potentially very dangerous. I realise that she'd had a lot to drink but if she was threatening towards another individual staff or not, could be cause for dismissal. There's behaving silly like saying daft things but there's another when it's criminal damage. A tough view should be taken on that. These two staff might have to work together. However, no reflection on the RF as long as correct procedures are followed

Hi Neil, the things you have to report on! It sounds as if this was a private party, off the palace grounds and after the end of the work Christmas Function. As such, unless the staff were in uniform, it should not involve the palace and would be a matter for the police if dangerous behaviour was involved. If charges are laid by the police and the palace employment contract specifies no criminal charges, then the staff member should be suspended until a verdict is reached, which would also decide her employment status. Sadly, all too often alcohol is involved in poor behaviour and I'm not sure it brings any benefits to society at all. There are some great no-alcohol wines and ciders available if you want to drink socially without becoming unsociable.

Keep the drinking to a minimum at office parties. A toast at the table and try to keep a glass in your hand for most of the evening, don't allow it to be refilled. Leave when the drunks get over the eight.

Situations such as this only mirror what truly goes on behind closed doors. Need I say, what truly goes on behind Buckingham Palace and the rest of the royal family is seeping out through their own servants' activities after hours... 👑✨😉💫👌

Everyone knows that even a tad to much alcohol never improves anyones behavior. They’re all adults. The royal family did not suggest that they go out and get plastered. If this shenanigans continues next year they may just all receive a lump of coal. 😂😂🇨🇦

Having been to many corporate work parties, I do not agree that the Monarchy should be brought into any of this Neil. The woman works for them, she is not one of them. The RF cannot control how she behaves outside of work hours.

No, Neil, the Royal Family are not to blame for the unruly behaviour by an obviously immature staff member who cannot handle Alcohol. Same in Australia, the politicians and their staff get very drunk at Christmas parties then all he'll breaks loose. Losers never grow up.

It’s not the RFs fault. So what the staff Christmas party got out of hand and it wasn’t on palace grounds. A reprimand is enough I think I’m sure she feels really bad about it once she sobered up

Disgraceful behaviour. I'm afraid I would let her go. She's reflecting the Royal Family, even when she's off-duty, just as serving military, police-officers and other public figures are expected to behave off-duty, with dignity.

I do wonder who 'leaked' the story of Andrew because it certainly took the useless PM and his motley crew off of the front pages!! As for the underparlour maid, orf with her 'ead! Where are we meeting for our Christmas party chums, and what have we got in store for our lead chum, Neil? Have a good un Neil ❤

Hello Neil I hope you are well.❤😊 My sister and I aren’t drinkers and never have been. It’s always nice after a night out with friends to know we enjoyed ourselves and didn’t make a fool of ourselves. Whereas some of our friends have had to ask the next day what they had said and done. Alcohol in small doses can be pleasant, but too many have too many…😂😂

I made a fool of myself at a Christmas party early in my career in the 70s. Fortunately no harm was done to anyone, other than myself. My boss took care of getting me home and called the next day to check on me. His wife even chimed in and assured me that as long as I learned from that mistake I would live it down and chalk it up to experience. They continued to use me as their house/child sitter when they traveled. I learned so much about life and personal responsibility from that older (probably in their early 40s😂) couple about being a good mentor to younger colleagues. I went into a career mentoring/teaching high school dropouts, a wonderfully rewarding career.

Honestly, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Xmas parties do get out of hand. It wasn't at BP, so nothing to do with the RF. The throwing of the glass was wrong. It was a silly mistake, hopefully a lesson learned.
