Very interesting that you overcame writers block by approaching the project as if you were writing a game supplement

Cool - while I know I’m never gonna be able to match everyone’s personal imagination of what an RoSD movie would be, I’m trying to get as much of Joe’s game and world into the flick.🤙🍻

All sounds interesting. Copse Cathedral makes me think of the 'Tree Cathedral' in Bedfordshire England. A project started by a survivor of the Great War, it consists of hedges and shrubs planted in the form of a medieval cathedral. I've been a couple of times.

I hit your video and turned off to the side to work while I listen to you and just as I heard you say a change in the camera settings and mic. I thought. "What happened to the sound?". It's one of those times when you ask and the answer comes at the same time. I'm happy to see your doing your best on getting the script done. Don't worry your work will grow and the movie will be done. I'm glad your showing off your work and what you have been doing so far. Keep it up. When the movie comes out . I will be buying tickets.

Your characters will surprise at what the do. Don't worry about budget. A really great story that sucks people in will win over a high budget costume and location flix. Abandon village - rent a "closed for the season" Ren Faire in the fall.

You should check out the work of Ian Hubert. He uses Blender 3d software to create some pretty spectacular video shorts. Could be of use to help add special effects to existing shots. I for one am enjoying your production narrative immensely. The journey is just as important as the destination. Peace.

This was by far my favorite episode, probably because of the candidness (not that you don't do that regularly, but this had a bit more 'rawness'...call it authenticism (new word ??)). Your approach is how I've tackled my YT podcast, with regards to the main character, upcoming fight scenes, etc: Set a certain time frame (1 to 2 hours writing) each day, but then unleash the creativity demon within...LOL. Anyways, love watching the process, and look forward to the next update. As an aside, I started with Scenarist, then Scrivener, and settled on Bibisco. Curious if you've used any of the aforementioned.
@tabletopalchemy

Awesome, thank you! I’ve never heard of the two apps you mentioned that aren’t scrivener, I guess I haven’t looked for anything after I started using scrivener, but now I’m curious. I’m used final draft for the screenplay (which I finished yesterday (rough draft of course), woot!) but I use that for industry standard reasons. 🍻

Possibly the point you were trying to get across but forget the budget for now, write the film you want to watch, work out the budget for that, then see what budget you actually have and make the changes/cuts that are required. Any ideas that aren't used are left over for the sequel. When Ryûhei Kitamura made Versus he was worried he would never get to make another film, so he threw all his ideas into that one movie (Yakuza, Zombies, sword fights and more. Over 20 years later he is still making movies and even got to work with Bradley Cooper and Vinnie Jones on a Clive Barker story (Midnight Meat Train and Vinnie Jones best film, he doesn't speak - Vinnie is an ex-football, sorry Soccer player). Basically write what you want and worry about the other stuff later.

Not that I really know what the hell I'm talking about, but I am a connoisseur of low/no/mid budget films that punch above their weight with creativity. I like that you're writing as though budget isn't a concern, because who knows? Maybe some of those things you can't do in the way a big budget production would do, you can find work-arounds for, and still make work on a lower budget. I love a lot of the old tricks. Can't make it look great in a direct shot? Cover it up with shadows and smoke. Let the viewer's brain fill in the blanks. But hey. My (short)film baby turned out to be an unwatchable mess, where, other than the performance of the lead actor, who was great, NOTHING came together (don't even get me started on my awful performance as "the voice on the radio"). It was so bad, the producer/director never even bothered to try editing the footage together to show it to anyone. So what do I know?
@tabletopalchemy

Hey that experience alone means you know enough to give it another go! I agree there will have to be a lot of tricks in this (like there are in most movies I spose), I’m taking notes. 🤙🏴‍☠️🍻
