X-Men: Days of Future Past was an exciting movie for fans, seeing as it brought together different versions of iconic characters like Professor X and Magneto, along with other favorites like Wolverine, Mystique, Storm, Kitty Pryde, Iceman, Colossus and more! That being said, because the movie deals with time travel, it’s kind of a mess when you stop to think about it. Like why did Wolverine travel to JUST before Mystique killed Bollivar Trask? What’s up with Magneto DROPPING A STADIUM and ruining everything? Why was Professor X even hanging around? Why did Quicksilver suddenly stop helping the X-Men?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to X-Men Days Of Future Past! It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience!

There's a post-credits scene in X-Men The Last Stand where the nurse hears Charles' voice coming from the coma patient. He transferred his consciousness into the guy before Jean killed him. Then in the post-credits scene in X-Men Origins, he tells Logan "You're not the only one with gifts", implying the transfer worked.

Ryan's comment about Quicksi, er, Peter's power being literally godlike is spot on. In fact, it's more like being the Dr. Manhattan of superspeedsters - existing outside of time and freezing time when in the original comics, Stan Lee and Co. made his super power a lot more credible by limiting him to subsonic speeds whilst the Barry Allen Flash could run round the world seven times in a second. Now Quicksilver makes the Flash look like a real slowpoke. A load of bollox, tbh.

That's what I thought as well. It's either it would be instant or his consciousness in the past is just a projection of the current brain but then that means he's just remotely controlling the past version like some kind of Indian computer scam. However, they specifically mention it shreds his consciousness and has to heal so that means he would actually have to go back, which makes your point completely valid. It also means that his consciousness itself is a separate entity than his body which means in their universe the soul is a real thing and not just a maybe. Either her power takes forever or shes standing over a soulless husk. But the soul being real has huge religious ramifications and you would think someone in that universe like Xavier would be able to put two and two together there. IDK, the way they set it up completely falls apart and contradicts itself.

One critique in particular here is erroneous. It's important to send Wolverine back to right before the incident because even though it's time travel, the timespan of his being sent back to when he returns is equal to the timespan of Kitty sitting there in the future using her powers to keep him there. So it's not easy for her to do that, but also they're all racing the clock because the future sentinels are on their way soon. However it does make more sense to send him back to a time when mystique is less stubborn and just tell her not to assassinate that guy ever.

I mean, the ticking clock narrative does kind of make sense. They seem to go with Wolverine's time in the past and present day running parallel to each other so they couldn't send him back a year or so otherwise they'd be killed by the sentinels.
