Hey man, this was very helpful. I’m currently writing my own Spider-Man fan film and I’m trying to teach myself how to do better dialogue and pacing with my screenplays!

What exactly is tone in screenwriting for character dialogue? I learned something here.
@JayCarver8 ай бұрын
It’s basically the style in which the characters speak. Tone can be used interchangeably with “tone of voice”.

Jay, I love your videos. You got Swag, my man; however, I must tell you that you don't have any hooks to keep the viewer engaged till the end. Like, stick around for the end, where I'll give you one secret that reveals how to put said topic into your screenplay. I'm not $#!+!/@ on your videos, but it will help boost your video attention, thus helping your vids get more attention on KZbin.

Hi, If dilaogs and descriptions in a script must be written long by necessity ! Wouldn't it disrupt the flow and concept of the senate to try to restrict it? You keep saying this: Keep descriptions short. But in some places it necessarily has to be long. So if the screenwriter wrote it consciously and correctly, how will he shorten it?
@JayCarver Жыл бұрын
There is no set length. Too much dialogue and you run the risk of putting the audience to sleep and saying things that could easily be shown instead. Write as much as it takes to get the point across and move on. A screenplay is not a novel and in most cases it will get reworked anyway if it ever goes to production. The directors and producers will ultimately dictate how a scene looks, so don't over think or over write it. Focus on telling a good story and not the rules. Read other screenplays in your genre to get a sense of how others have gotten their point across succinctly.

Mine character lives with Two names. So how do I address him JOHN/PETER ??
@JayCarver4 жыл бұрын
If he truly is being referred by two names throughout the entire story you can just list him exactly as you did "JOHN/PETER" otherwise pick one name as his real name (John) and make it obvious when the other name is referenced (Peter) that the reader knows it's John.
