Screw in Tent/Awning Spike (RV Living Full Time) 4K

The BEST Screw in Tent/Awning Spike/Stake - for our RV awning and shade screen combo - we have created after traveling full time 4 years in our Grand Design Solitude fifth wheel. "Larryized"!
Just because it's not windy when you put our your awning, tent, outdoor shelter, doesn't mean a gust couldn't come out of nowhere.
Don't put out your trailer awning without something to keep it from moving too much in high winds.
you need powerful anchors.
We also use these for our Quick Clam outdoor shelter. Also, works great for tents.
Since we travel full time in our camper - and obviously do a lot of DIYs - we have impact drivers and many other tools.

Great video! I use adjustable tent poles with the sun shade to raise the outside edge of the sun shade, I keep the shade at the same angle as the awning and this creates a large outdoor living space with privacy. If the wind comes up, simply unzip the sun shade and let the larger sun shade fall and retract your awning

That is a great question, but no, we have not had any problem. Our stakes are only 12 inches long and code for most sprinkler or electrical. Plumbing is much deeper than that. Larry

Larry always great explained videos. I have a request I see lots of videos about rvs on many subjects. I never see videos on plumbing. Even when I see a rv tech doing an inspection. They never mention plumbing. Some rvs use the wrong type of plumbing. Can you please do a video on plumbing. What tools and clamps and the different types of tubing to use. Lots of people use the wrong tubing. There is two different types of flex pipe. Thank you so much Larry. Also I would recommend that people use water sensors in there rvs so they don’t wake up one morning with 2 in of water on the floor . Have a great day my friend

@@DownsizingMakesCents I would say it depends on the cost and time to make them and what he thinks he can make on each finished item. Parts are easy to come by so maybe market and only by parts when needed. Not much risk in that.

Another great idea and instructions Larry. You are the MacGyver of all things RV, man! Good tip on the eyelets, ours are holding up but will reinforce them as you did to make it last. We love our awning shade and our clam as well. They are just one of those things that are just nice to have. We find it necessary to have all options avail to secure them based on the ground you are securing it to. There are a lot of types... I personally find myself using the corkscrew anchors mostly, and if I cannot get them in, I go to the lag bolts. Just make sure you batts are charrged on your drill... ; Stinks getting them in /out with a socket wrench.... ...When we beach camp, we use 2- 20lb water bags because nothing screwed into sand will work. On a side note, we never leave out awning out when we leave the site even if the weather is perfect., we have seen far to many awnings even anchored down succumb to the force of mother nature when it can change in a fraction of a sec these days.

We shouldn’t leave our awning out when we leave but we do occasionally, I think the shade and tie downs should be able to hold it together even if some big winds get to it while we are gone. Larry

Would love to hear how Larry attached his vice to the bumper. For that matter, how did you attach the bumper to the frame? Our 2021 Grand Design 29RS and many other Grand Designs don't come with bumpers anymore.

With Larry’s RA, it makes it quicker and easier. Unfortunately, we had to get a new shade - actually 2 because now we have 2 awnings Larry reinforced the grommets with E 6000 glue to help it last longer. Alice
