Great job on that project, its looking good so far. Just keep on trucking there and you'll get it done. Im lookng at antennas and your work so far is good. hope it all comes together for you .

Instead of home made copper contacts you can get "finger stock" at some hardware or plumbing stores (the type used in the real motorized ham antennas). It is used for electrical contact between a metal door and metal cabinet. A friend of mine got some to make his own tarheel type antennas. It is springy and will have better contact. Your sheet of copper isn't springy enough to maintain good contact. You might look at the Wolf River coils as they have a different kind of sliding contact. Their internet ad and youtube videos show their construction. Dave K8WPE

Threading PVC is an option. Other option is use fishing line to set winding pitch Greetings from Indonesia

Christian: I wonder if down the road the copper coil and the fingers inside would start to oxidize from moisture. I have wondered also if stainless steel wire and sheet stock could be utilized for the Coil and the fingers respectively; thus eliminating oxidation issues. I would imagine that stainless steel would have different conductive properties but since the screwdriver ant. is adjustable, that should not matter 73 KB3SVJ

Yes, the depth of the threads is important. The wire coil should be above the surface of the PVC. The copper sheet fingers would wear the pvc before making contact. The hole thing needs to be conductive from the bottom up.

Sorry I took so long getting back to you. This project is still ongoing however at a slow pace. I had some plexi-glass cut for the mount but never got around to welding it together. The plan from here was to box in the copper pipes and use a DPDT switch to control each element individually. If you have moved forward on yours, please share what you did and how you did it. More vids coming soon.73

Forget the copper pipe. Too heavy. Just use pvs and run heavy gauge wire down the side

I did think of this. The parts I had laying around in a scrap pile. If I where to invest money into the project, I'd go the stainless route. Just thought of using oxguard for the copper. Might work. 73
