That’s why I started buying brake cleaner by the drum. I’d be interested to know how other manufacturers handles hold up. I may try to soak my instinct and top torque handles in gas to see what happens. Problem is, I know one company that doesn’t like to warranty screwdriver handles. I like the honesty here. Not many companies would’ve posted a video showing their tool “failing”. Not that I’d consider this a tool failure

As usual, Clay does his best to destroy tools. This time he did the ultimate test in fluids. Granted you'd never be stupid enough to soak tools in petrol, brake cleaner or carb cleaner overnight!!! This was the ultimate test, well as expected, the "solvents" did just that, and the true test was oil and atf. This was as fair as could be required by any sensible test. Result, if you abuse your tools, they will be wrecked, if you take care, they will last you a lifetime of "normal" use!

Hopefully you had some good ventilation going, with all of those fumes wafting about... Lol... No T8 in the set, in order to work on my Snap On ratchets? Lol... Keep up the great videos Clay... Looking forward to Monday's video with Joe...

These seem perfectly fine around the shop though I just don't use screw driver's that often personally. I'll say the tests feel like it makes sense, I imagine brake cleaner and gas will probably eat up any soft handle you put in it for a day. Great video and I think this is a good test only because it kinda show like possibly years of use possibly with heavy exposure to those chemicals. If you guys could I would like it if you could do a video of a similar test on the hdr rachet handles, I'm curious how they might fair in this type of test. I have one and it seems perfectly adequate. I'll admit I use penetrator oil to clean off my rachet because the handle seems to like it I think and it cleans off stuff pretty good. Actually can you do a video possibly on best practices and ways to clean the gecko grip and hdr rachet grips? Like how to remove oil, gas, etc

They are my favorite drivers handles for sure. They get a tub a towel as soon as I’m done using. Hurts my feelings even seeing old oil on them handles.

Good test. I like the honesty. I feel every handle will breakdown after time. I love the grip on these screwdrivers. The best feel bar-none.

Clay over there cracking me up with the crooked clock and brake cleaner commentary. This was another cool episode. I'm always leery of comfort grip style handles, or anything that might get damaged via cleaning.

Gas will do that to pretty much anything so that’s just to be expected lol but I was wondering how these would hold up to fluids!!!

ive been hoping this test would come about. I build and work on fuel tanker trucks and trailers my tools are covered with gas and diesel and oils all the time so where as my tools dont soak in gas they still have a heavy ue around it and im afraid they will not last me a months worth of work😥shame i was looking forward to using these based off the reviews i hear on how well the grip works

You should do the test with acetone and MEK.

Why I do hard handles only in real messy situations. I think these look nice but will also stain or fade it seems over time

Nice test. I wonder how they would do on a Shadow test. My Cane Corso Shadow got a hold of a nice set of SnapOn screw drivers and beavered them up good. I still have the least chewed one. I cut the end off of it and smoothed it a bit so I could still use it. I will drop that in gasoline overnight and see how well that holds up. I do have a set of these VIM screwdrivers. I bet the dogs will love them.

No Skydrol hydraulic fluid? Thats what I'd like to see. (If your not familiar with Skydrol, do your homework... it can be nasty without using proper precautions.)

@@vimtoolsinc I stand corrected! Far as I know, most any flavor of Skydrol you can lay hands on would probably be fine. Also, would like to see some examples the handles after several months of everyday typical automotive shop use... would be interesting to see how grubby they get.
