Great to see what you're working on! Yeah scraps definitely pile up fast. I try to use them on smaller projects until they get to the point where they end up in a campfire.

Yeahhh the campfire is what we’re hoping to avoid from now on 🤞

@@RobHarveyMusic That would be a very expensive campfire with that wood! 😆

What's that vacuum bag?

We need more details of how the vacuum fittings are set up to make a compressor into a vacuum pump........ How about a breakdown of the different parts?

I was once chastised for using the phrase "suck it and see". To me it was an entirely innocent phrase meaning to try something out. Let's see if it gets past the filters.....

The chipbreaker screwdriver product is beautiful but too expensive, lee valley is selling similar product for much less

Yeahhhh but they don’t look as good. And that’s what really matters 😉

It’s a CAP IRON 😊

Yes in the original video when they announced they would be selling them, Matt explicitly said there were Lee valley and other ones cheaper which are usually sold out because they are popular. The point of selling the screwdrivers, cutting knives and things is for people to choose to support the channel if they want to - hence the line at the end “if you want to support us further visit the store […] and treat yourself to something special “

Lol. There's money to be made selling an overpriced gimmick screwdriver Instead of telling your subscribers to just use the lever cap like GENUINE craftsmen do. A, because it's already right there. B, because the screw was designed to be loosened and tightened by the lever cap and C, It's so wide a blade it's impossible to slip out of the screw slot and D, If the screw gets tight you can offset the cap to get more leverage. Am I right ? Yeah, you know I am.

The droves of chipped lever caps may disagree with you.

@thomashunter6218 That's the lamest retort I've ever read in fourty years as a woodworker. I've NEVER seen or chipped a lever cap and I have 8 metal planes. Lol.

Oh don’t worry. We know you’re right. We just love making high quality products regardless. Why buy a fancy watch when a £5 plastic one will do? Why buy a fancy car when a rundown one will work? All just comes down to personal preference. And we personally love making high quality tools 👍
@joschmoyo45329 күн бұрын
@RobHarveyMusic Uhuh. I love making high quality furniture and musical instruments but I don't waste money on gimmick tool's when the existing tool is designed to do the job better. I stuck to my trade instead of selling out and smoking hobbyists with eye candy tool's that they think will make them look like " a real craftsman". Collecting tool's doesn't make you a craftsman. You have to do real work. Conning the naive ? Faking cred and giving bogus instruction ? That may work on hipsters and retired bean counters but your welcome to that demographic. Anyhoo, back to work...

@@joschmoyo4532 I don’t believe we made any claims that our tools will make you any better at being a craftsperson? But what I would like to imagine is that using high quality tools inspires the creation of high quality products. It certainly works that way for me. On the note about making high quality furniture, I could ask why you bother? IKEA exists. Their stuff is functional and cheap. Why con a customer base out of their hard earned money when you should be recommending their stuff? On the instrument front, why make something special when you can buy mass-produced instruments for a fraction of the price? They do the same job don’t they? At the end of the day if you need something for a purpose you can usually find a cheap option to do the job. Once you start spending more money than the minimum you’re immediately into the territory of opinions and diminishing returns. Anyways, I best get back to playing the expensive piano that definitely doesn’t make me a better pianist, but assuredly inspires me to play more often 😉
