Richard Dreyfuss (guy in the cage) is one of greatest actors of all time. He played a supporting role in Jaws but later became a leading actor in several Academy Award winning and nominated films in the 1980s and 1990s. He played in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, another Steven Spielberg blockbuster film.

great reaction to a classic! i actually met Steven Spielberg, they were filming a movie in my area, i didn't know about it at the time tho. i was in a grocery store, looking for hot sauce, and asked a man beside me if he'd seen any, he looked around and said he remembered seeing some in the next aisle over, and pointed. i said thank you, and left. later i told my sister he looked like Steven, and she said it probably was, she knew they were filming in our town. 😄

The novel by Peter Benchley (who played the reporter on the beach in the movie in a cameo role) does a much better job of considering the economics. The movie leaves you with the impression that the mayor is just a money grubber, but in the book, you find out that there are whole families whose businesses and lives on Amity Island will go under if they have a dead summer season. Kids having to come home from college because their families can't afford tuition. And the 10k that they offered Quint to kill the shark would be worth 100k today. That is why Quint wouldn't let anyone call in for help because this was the big score of a lifetime for him and he didn't want to lose it out to the Coast Guard. Great sweatshirt choice for this movie, by the way. Also, in the book, Brody's wife was having or considering having an affair with Hooper. Lastly, check out the opening scene in "The Goodbye Girl" which introduces us to Richard Dreyfuss' character. He is wearing the exact same outfit we see him in in Jaws (jeans, green fatigue jacket and octagonal glasses). This was his very next movie, I think.

Original Blade Runner movie is awesome! Made in 1980 and still holds up as one of the best, if not THE best science fiction movie of all time. It’s up there and takes place in the year 2019! My favorite movie, it’s the benchmark for cyberpunk noir. Many, many other films have tried to imitate it unsuccessfully.

Normally I shy away from movie reactions that are this short, but you are the exception. One quibble I would have with you though is the idea that the movie portrays women as flighty and weak. Not so for Mrs. Kitner who confronted and slapped Chief Brody. She was nails, even if her anger was misguided. You should do "Casablanca." But spend 40 or so minutes on it. Most people regard it as being in the top 2 movies in Hollywood history. The screen play cannot be beaten. Also take a look at "Three Days of the Condor."
@Eire-xq9jz6 ай бұрын
And I wouldn't consider Ellen Brody as being weak. She is scared for her husband. My wife would be the same way if she thought I was in danger like her husband.

One other piece of advice, well 2. First, don't be afraid of black and white films. I hear this from young rectors all the time how surprised they are that a black and white film was actually good. And second, there is not a lot of reaction to Afrocentric movies. I think a lot of reactors are scared of saying something stupid (or worse) so they don't even try. This might be wise. But it'd be a lot of fun to see you react to the original Shaft or Black Caesar. A fun movie that I haven't seen a reaction to yet is "Undercover Brother". OK, I'll shut up now. If you can't tell, I am just over the moon that you're back

This movie not only put Steven Spielberg on the map after working in television but also created the blueprint for blockbuster movies. Becca just 2 years later, his friend George Lucas gave us Star Wars. Maybe you could start another channel to watch movies. You could start with STAR WARS:A NEW HOPE and work your way up from there. But start with Episode 4. It is the release order and the way it was intended to be watched. Nice to have you back, woman. Or to quote Samuel L. Jackson "It's about Damn time." If you do this, you have to pick your ride or die character from the series. Enjoy

1. Goof: Chrissie's body parts are too far up the beach to have been washed up there without a storm. 2. Boy Scouts don't need to do the mile swim to get their merit badge. It's an accomplishment all its own. 3. Lee Fierro/Mrs. Kentner actually slapped Roy Scheider. It took 17 takes. Once was so hard it knocked his glasses off. 4. The jump scare at Ben Gardner's boat was put in on purpose by Spielberg because they were having problems with the shark "Bruce" and his appearance was delayed, and the movie needed something earlier. Works every time.🤣🤣 5. IRL Dreyfuss and Shaw didn't get along, so Spielberg used the animosity to fuel their feud onscreen. 6. The boy that said, "He made me do it' is now the Police Chief of the town where this movie was filmed. 7. Hooper was wrong. The fish that hit the line was "our fish". 8. "You're gonna need a bigger boat" is one of the greatest adlibs in history. It was the first time Roy actually saw Bruce. It was an ongoing trope within the filming due to budgetary problems. 9. Goof: An animal that large couldn't hit the side of the boat as rapidly as it did UNDER WATER. 10. I suspect Quint's story about the Indy gave him PTSD flashbacks and contributed to his behavior after he told the story. 11. I was in the Navy, and we were instructed to go for the eyes when confronting a shark. 12. Aside from Spielberg's pool used in the Ben Gardner boat scenes, all of the shipboard scenes were filmed entirely at sea, 13. In the book not only does Hooper die but he was also having an affair with Mrs. Brody. 14. JAWS II is the only other one worth watching. It revolves around the Brody kids and their friends. Including the mayor's son. 15 The third one was so bad that Scheider read the script and said NO.
