@@jcbulldog533 I love Rush but Neil Peart replaced John Rutsey in 1974. They went through several configurations before that too before arriving at the classic lineup of Geddy, Alex and Neil. My comment regarding ZZ is that it's been only the same three guys for 50 years. ✌😷

ZZTOP... same three guys recording and touring together since 1969... I particularly love their first 7 albums... Billy Gibbons is one the best and most respected rock guitarists in the world... and as a drummer I feel that Frank Beards drumming on those 7 albums is highly underrated... he was essential to their incredible groove!!

YES! More Rock ! Billy Gibbons hat??....Known as a nudu, or Bamileke beanie, it's been a staple of Gibbons' wardrobe for several years now -- ever since he gave his Stetson 10-gallon hat to the leader of the Bamileke tribe in Cameroon during a break while on tour with ZZ Top. Well, actually, it was more like a trade. Gibbons only handed over his cowboy hat after requesting one of the group's distinctive hats in return from the chief. "He came straight up to me and said, 'I like the hat,'" Gibbons told the London Telegraph, back in 2008. "I said, 'now, wait a minute.' I said, 'Chief, I'm from Texas. We do a little horse trading over these matters.'" Gibbons,, has been wearing a nudu hat ever since -

This is what good Blues should be like; gritty, raunchy, and so raw it sounds elegant. This is the sort of blues jam session that you can usually hear in one of those sketchy, sleazy, honky-tonks in the Texas Panhandle, where things can get a bit dangerous, it's so hot in the club that everyone sweats; where they have to put up a chicken wire barrier between the band and the "patrons" (to catch the flying beer bottles) so the band can keep going with the great jam. I know, I've been there!

I lost it at "Santa Claus is coming to town." So, the song's about a brothel in Texas called the Chicken Ranch, if you want some context for those lyrics. As for ZZ Top, they're a great Houston-based blues-rock outfit that really wears their influences on their sleeves. John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, guys like that. Another awesome song by them is "Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago," which flow together as one song and usually got played together on the radio.

Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top was Jimi Hendrix's favorite blues guitarist. Billy got the funky sock hat from a homeless guy through a hat trade in more recent years. He almost always wears it when he performs these days. So that's the story on the hat. Bass guitarist, Dusty Hill recently passed away at 72.

Down home blues and rock, they've lived so very many lifetimes, and they just keep getting better with each one!!!, please do check out their repertoire of southern genius, La Grange came out when I was in junior high, when I was finally old enough in mid 1980's to go to their show (by the by these old dudes put on a show, let me tell you, brilliant), and by then they had even more hits, and albums under their belt, check out "Waiting on the Bus+ Jesus Just Left Chicago, its a combo plate of Rythm and Blues, quite the guitar riff on the latter, it'l hook you, then Cheap Sunglasses (at the show most everybody whipped out their sunglasses when they started that song, Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, I swear the guitar is insane, and the video is classic ZZ, they are showmen to be sure. Frank isn't the original drummer, but he was the drummer for everything that made and kept them famous. Sometime in the early 1980s, after ZZ Top had been around 10 years and gotten rich and famous, Frank checked himself into rehab in the midst of a tour, causing people to speculate that the band would replace him. A reporter asked Billy and Dusty what their plans were without Frank, and Dusty said "I'm goin' fishin'."
