Hello from Pennsylvania ! I made 9 trips to Idaho and had some success when I was younger, but now I'm old and wore out ! Those mountains are steep ! Congrats on a great hunt … I wish I would have taken a video camera on my trips ! Get out there and enjoy yourself while you are young enough to do it !

Hunt Hells Canyon for the last eight years. Love the country and the solitude that it brings. Have been able to take two bulls and multiple bucks and countless memories between my brother and my dad. Have met a become close to a few families that live in the canyon.This country has always been a place that I think of year round. My dad is no longer able to trek these mountains but is still able to make it to camp. I look foward every year to the challenge that this hunt brings and look foward to putting meat in the freezer every year, just wish it was elk meat that filled the freezer every year.

Thank you for taking us along with you on your journey! What an exciting time! Just had a quick question. What did you guys do with the meat of the first bull while you continued your hunting?
@DecisiveOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
FreeWrldMerchant glad you enjoyed it! We hung the meat at our base camp. Then processed it down into smaller portions, sealed it and put it on ice before freezing it on one of our stops on our way home.
@FreeWrldMerchant4 жыл бұрын
@@DecisiveOutdoors That was helpful, thank you. September 2019 I hunted the Selway Region, saw some cows but no bulls. My hunting partner and I did both shoot mule deer. We carried a chest freezer in our trailer with a generator which worked OK, but October 2021, a good friend and I are heading closer to where you guys were, but we are going hard-core High Country, Spike camp (minimalist) and I am trying to pick the mind of guys who have done it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

You found God’s country! Nice work. Glad you enjoyed the hunt. I am lucky to have grown up there.We always wore the sides out from our boots before the bottoms in this part of Idaho. Did you stop at the MT saloon for a celebratory beer on your way out?

@timothycox16223 жыл бұрын
How do you keep the meat from spoiling while still camping
@DecisiveOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
In cooler air temps you can hang meat for a week or so. You just have to make sure your quarters have good air flow. This last season we brought a small chest freezer and small generator and ran it for a couple hours a day after we processed the animals.

I had alot of RESPECT for you when you gave praise to your wife alot of men dont have a wife that will support them. But I lost some respect when I seen you pack out the rack before the meat. But still a great video 👍👍
@DecisiveOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
All comments are appreciated, thank you! Interesting perspective on packing the horns out with the first load of meat. I’ve had this conversation before. People who tend to get worked up about this seem to do so as a result of a feeling they need to hang their hat on something to help them feel better than the next guy. End of the day all laws were followed, all meat was well taken care of and packed out. Hanging at camp or on the mountain while hiking back and forth doesn’t make much of a difference to me. And if someone believes that’s representative of us “prioritizing” the antlers that’s just not the case. It all comes out. EVERY TIME, no matter what.
