BTW GoGet has vans parked at Ikea Richmond / Victoria Gardens that you can hire by the hour or by the day. Do the shopping, then hire it for an hour or 2, return it and drive yourself back home. VERY handy!

It's such a nice place! I hope the noise really doesn't become a bother! If you don't like the brown carpet you can possibly buy another carpet(s) and lay them wall to wall to cover the brown one! And you can do stick on tiles to cover the kitchen backsplash if you still don't love it! Thanks for sharing your adventures!

funnily enough, the noise from our building has been so quiet! but there's construction across the street that's been annoying hahaha. SO worth it for this place though, we love it and the location is just unbelievable!!!

Good luck with your new home. I hope you start to explore Melbourne and enjoy it as we move out of the cold, wet weather. To orient yourselves with the streets/suburbs etc, there is a great KZbin channel “Roaming N Watching”. He does walks and drives mostly around the CBD and inner suburbs but does go further out into Greater Melbourne on occasion.

I’m surprised you chose apartment 8 over 7 if I was you I would’ve picked a parent 7 as it looked much bigger, and better lighting. Also the master bedroom was quite odd with the long hallway and stuff. Good luck though!

Thanks! Apartment 8 is actually almost double the size believe it or not!! And it’s north facing so it gets more sunlight throughout the day than the other one, it just looks dim in this video for some reason! Xx

Hey Harriet, random question... My partner and I are planning a move to Melbourne from New Zealand... How long was it between you visiting to apartment hunt and actually moving/how long would you recommend? ❤️

Hi angel! So excited for your move!! We called an agency and they said the quicker you can move in, the better for the owner so they’ll almost always approve the person who can move in the quickest. We allowed 2-3 weeks between apartment hunting and our moving date! He recommended 2 weeks. You obviously don’t have to move that soon, but you gotta be willing to pay rent/ start your lease ASAP xxx

Yes! It’s very rare to get an apartment with a fridge in Aus, so everyone buys their own fridge and you just take it with you to your next place!

get the essentials first (mattress, couch) and take your time with everything else. don't expect it to look super aesthetic at first!! and use facebook marketplace/go to your thrift store for cheap, cute furniture. good luck! xx
