@@nightslasher9384 2 things 1. Charlotte is technically underaged and needs to be under the supervision of her guardian. 2. That stinking pedophile is not her legal father, since he banished her biological father so he could marry Alice it wasn't a proper divorce and I highly doubt he has a marriage certificate. Therefore since the marriage was not official he has no custody right to Charlotte or any of her siblings.

Jamie and Charlotte really do love and care about each other. But they're young and have no real life experience. Josiah is shamelessly using that to his advantage. It's all about attempting to regain control of Judith and the kids to get that raise in status for himself. He has no intentions of allowing the young couple to be together and get married, but Charlotte and Jamie trust him not knowing otherwise.

If you ever stumble across it, watch Escaping polygamy. It will show you which branch is allowed what things. The Kingston clan (one of its major men being John Daniel Kingston), tends to be more relaxed (allows modern clothing, cell phones, tv’s, etc), to look as modern to the “gentiles” possible, as to not draw suspicion. However, the FLDS (whose current prophet is sitting in jail for life plus 20 years, Warren Jeffs), stuck the ideology depicted in this movie. It’s a really intense show and the women in it are truly brave!
