This bowl is made from thin material. It uses two quarter inch layers of contrasted wood, in this case ash and mahogany. They are cut into eight pie shaped segments and glued into a six and one half inch circle in alternating woods and used as a blank to cut the bowl. This one did not come out perfect but I will revisit this bowl with an alternative ring thickness and two more rings that makes a taller narrow bowl.

Your work is coming along great. Stop being so hard on yourself. If you don't call attention to your errors, nobody will ever seen them. In fact, I've found from experience that most folks are in awe that you are able to make things that they can't.

Thank you and you are right. When I started the first thing an experienced woodworker told me is to never point out your mistakes, that very few people would see them. And that has proven to be true. It can be glaring and obvious to me but no one ever mentions it

Nice work. I will have to try a bowl one day, despite the fact that I hate sanding😂.

Thank you. I feel the same about sanding, that has always been my weak point in woodworking. I usually avoid it as much as possible.

The last batch of flying dutchman that I bought would not even tension to cut without breaking. They would break on the flat ends either top or bottom right at where they were mounted. Others would not cut but a few minutes and break in the teeth. I had used them for years with no trouble before. I bought some Pegas from Bear Woods and I really like them, for me they cut better and straighter, I had to almost re-learn how to cut and still have to adjust if I switch blades. I guess you can get a bad batch in any brand.
