My kids have grown up and gone to a different city, where their jobs have taken them. Now my wife and myself are left in the house. I am a furniture designer and I have a workshop where I go to work. So my wife wanted to do something interesting and useful during the day instead of sitting and watching the T.V. the whole day. So I bought her a Dremel moto saw. I taught her a few things, but the best part is she was impressed with your video tutorials and is now taking active interest in learning the scroll saw. Thank you for simple and clear instructions. Thanks once again.

I'm usually very disappointed with KZbin "tutorial" videos because most are clueless on how to present information in a way that can be absorbed by the viewer without having to replay the video, but watching your video has been a real treat, very well done, patiently delivered and slowly demonstrated for the viewer to grasp the first time. I'm very happy to have picked your video as my first "how to scroll" tutorial for beginners. Just in this video alone I learned something that happened to me yesterday when practicing on my new scroll saw, I drilled holes and tore the backs of them and thought maybe I should use a larger drill. Now I know exactly what I did wrong! I can't wait to view your other videos, and before I forget, THANK YOU for taking time to teach us on the web how to use equipment properly, its very much appreciated.

I bought my scroll saw back before there was the internet. I have never been able to really do anything with it. Every once in awhile I would get a wild hair pull it out, break a few blades and put it back up. Last night I went to Lowe's and got some blades. Today I learned I got the wrong ones. I got the spiral blades, because I remember they were suppose to go in any direction. You did not say but I am thinking it must be for some really thin wood. I have to get some No. 3 blades. Thanks for making the video's ! I think they are going to help.
@Scrollsawforum19 жыл бұрын
+William Wynn Hey William, many people will use spiral blades for everything and love them, I don't. It's more of a personal preference. I prefer the smooth lines and edges that you get with flat blades. The only time I will use a spiral blade is for very large projects and that is rare. Any blade you can find #7 or below should work for you. I would not worry too much about the numbers until you figure out the direction your scrolling will take. Good Luck and Have Fun , Bob

+ScrollSawParadise Hey thanks for writing back ! I found some old blades. I am going to have to get me a magnifying glass. Gettin old suxs. I tried the wavy line, for the most part I stayed on line. But the end result was very rough. It would have needed a lot of sanding. I was cutting a 1 X 4 pine. Just wondering if another type of wood better ? Mainly I what I want to do is make a decorative design for things like bookshelves or cabinets. The more I look into the things you can make with the scroll saw the more it interests me. The fretwork , not sure what it is called but you cut out different shapes to make a picture.
@MrBillmedhurst6 жыл бұрын
Very nicely explained. Also you showed some tips that the other vids don't show, for example I didn't know what kind of glue to use to stick plans to the product wood, also backing the blade up against its back side to make the 90 deg corner and all the rest. Thanks so much!

Hi Diane, Thanks! As far as the blue (or green) painters tape, any brand will work. I should have said this in the video, there are several different tapes you can use, packing tape and masking tape work as well, just to name a few.

i'm using scroll saw a bit over a month already and i kind of got used with it. ive made some easy and difficult projects too, but today i had to use an 25 teeth per inch saw blade and the blade keeps turning left and right while i cut. it didnt happen to me before and doesnt happen with thicker blade as well. can you please tell what i might be doing wrong? maybe i should try to tighten a bit more? i released it when i started to use 127mm blades as i couldnt find 133mm what fits to my scroll saw, but the machine allows me to use shorter blades by releasing a nut.
@Scrollsawforum19 жыл бұрын
+emiljan alhysa This is a problem I have also had when using very small 2/0 blades. You need to tighten the tension as much as you can without breaking the blade, that might help. The better thing to do, if you can, is to use a size #1 blade instead. I stopped buying 2/0 blades because of the problems you are having and I find that everything I thought I needed to do with a 2/0 blade, I can do with a #1 just as well and without the frustration. I'm sure that's not what you want to hear, but it is what it is.

I was wondering why there are no attachment on a scroll saw to cut a perfect straight line? Things like a band saw has to make straight cuts. i.e., rip fence, miter gauge. Is there a reason it doesn't have any? Or even are there scrolls saws that have a rip fence/miter gauge? I certainly haven't seen any.
