I remember taking this bus to Disneyland! You know back in the 90's and always stood out from the crowd for only having doors in the front/tall seats/extra wheels in the back. :)

Sounds very soothing. I can't believe this bus was still running in 2010, that means it was 23 years old!!

@@enolamsamoht I think the 2001 C40LF's replaced them. 1189 was privately operated in 2010 and still exists now.

@@TheCRTmanyes the transit system uses these as shuttles for the Hollywood bowl All old metro buses you saw in the 1990s and 2000s are all used for transit system shuttles now

This is the sound of my childhood growing up in the Philly area. More than half of our Neoplans had this setup with the DD 6V92TA mated to the Allison tranny. Loved when the drivers got on the throttle like this one here.

@daniel022209 I believe the other "A" indicates the advanced design. The first "A" indicates a USA-spec model made by Neoplan USA.

@angelumanzor30837 жыл бұрын
Joseph Heston They had the V-drive and T-drive options. Very few buses had that option. Another bus that had that option was the New Flyer D40HF.

What is the difference between the T, V, and A- Drive Neoplans. I know that the T-Drive means that the axle is farther away from the engine, the V-Drive is close to the engine, but what is the A-Drive cuz I'm seeing Neoplan AN440-A. What is it?

Maybe the original poster didn't move there until some time later in the 1990s. I've lived in Southern Cal. for all of my life, they had these starting in 1987, but sadly retired. them . These and the new, post-GMC, RTS II buses introduced me to the V731 transmission, ironically the predecessor Neoplans, with the conventional rear exit door, had the four speed Allisons, the same controls, not sure about the model type. Of course, these Neoplans and the RTS II's by TMC were the earliest to use today's concept of the "finger touch activated" controls we see now..
