About time we had me old neighbor Zach Braff on the show. Zach (Scrubs, Garden State) joins us this week and opens up on some of his lifelong anxieties, crippling pet peeves, and natural neurosis he deals with.
Zach talks a lot about his experience in the industry… everything from being a workaholic who doesn’t idle well to the idea of peers wanting you to do well, but not TOO well out there.
We also get into some funny BTS moments on Scrubs plus Zach’s experience working with legends like Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Robert Deniro.

I am a counselor and have a masters in counseling and I completely support when Zach said people want to be heard. Some of my clients just need someone to listen to their thoughts and their feelings on things. A professor once told me "Everyone has a story to tell and everyone wants to tell their story."

I completely agree with anxiety showing up more as you get older. I didn't get my first panic attack until age 21 even though trauma started around age 8. Therapy has helped a lot with getting better, and your podcasts have helped me get better understanding as well. I especially am thankful for clicking on this one today. Thank you for your podcast and getting a better understanding of the tough issues and being so open with them. ❤️

Hearing them talk about OCD and Anxiety helped me reflect on myself. Before I leave my apartment I HAVE to take pictures of everything, every outlet, window, to make sure everything is OFF. And I double check for like 10 min. All because I work a 12 hour shift and fear something will happen when I'm gone. That being said I have not been officially diagnosed with anything. I just connected to them talking about it

This was great in lots of ways but heyyyyy it's so nice to hear from someone else who has had lifelong struggles with anxiety and hear what it was like for them! Anxiety and OCD are EXHAUSTING. I compulsively counted my steps and had terrible social anxiety and anxiety in general as a kid and I HATED it. (Though I was also horribly shy and I never told anyone.) I think part of why I was always such a perfectionist as a kid was in a weird way to try to manage anxiety. You can't be anxious that people are going to call on you if you know everything, right? Actually WRONG, I still would freeze if a teacher called on me then, but heyyyy I mostly have everything managed these days and am generally chill and non-perfectionist but it took a lot of work to get here (and always will. UGH.)

Oh Michael you are an amazing dog owner. Its hard to watch our beloved pets age. Im sure you will know when its time to let Irv go, your gut will tell u, he will let u know. I had do make that decision going on 3 yrs now. My other dogs also helped me through it, Wolf was my very first own Dog, first Show Dog, First dog to get me into my passion of Showing dogs and starting my Kennel. When it comes to your dog, you'll know when he's ready. With my old cat henry we knew when he was ready to go. He was really sick, but he still tried to eat and drink and everything. Once he gave up, and started to just lay around, we knew he was ready.
