Something that gets overlooked too is Laverne is often seen as the resident sassy, older nurse who doesnt take her job too seriously. You can see here that she doesnt walk to the patient, she sprints and you can tell by how she spoke with JD how concerned she was. It goes to show on the surface how we judge the cahracters, but how they still care nonetheless when it matters most.

Elaine's death is one of the biggest gut punches in the series. Especially since the way the episode pans out, it seems like the pregnant lady would die and Elaine would get her heart. Which would still be sad, but it was kind of what you expected to happen, so it wouldn't have hit so hard. But then she and her child both survived, and what a happy surprise! But just as your mind is turning to Elaine, Laverne rushes past JD with "She's coding!" And then it hits you.
