I have rewatched this show so many times. While people usually remember the funny daydreams and silliness, each episode usually had a funny A-plot and an equally important tragic B-plot.

Absolutely, great point. I even liked how Laverne ran to her patient hurriedly genuinely and seriously concerned about her life. The way they show her is as a gossip, lazy and almost aloof. This scene alone shows how caring, compassionate and urgent she is when it matters the most. Amazing scene, start to finish.

So I listen to this one a lot I hope my real life will begin when they find out how to fix things but when you steadily lose more things you love it makes you wonder . I sometimes mutter how I hate my life after needing another injection or have to take a new medicine but every time I do it I force myself to remember I just hate bits of it and mostly I'm pretty lucky so what if watching tv with my kids is a good day I do my best to live for now even if I keep hoping for my real life to begin.

2:06 you can tell by his throw how upset Cox is that he couldn't save her. Not just an, "Oh well, win some lose some" moment. They were always consistent about how seriously he took a patient's death. Even if it was just a blip of emotion before needing to get back to work.

It's such a rare find... the characters, the storylines, the comedy, the use of music, the poignancy, the obvious connection the actors have, the reality of the situations any of us might find ourselves in when it comes to health and pain. Must have been great to have worked in the cast and crew. And they all loved their dogs and brought them to work - what a dream!

I love this song, it’s one of my favourites. Colin Hayes (from Men at Work ) is the artist that sings this. Circ. 2010

I think the saddest part of this to me was when Dr.Cox asked J.D if he was going to be okay. It shows that he does care for him even though he hardly shows it. I also think that as much as J.D thought of him as a father figure, Dr.Cox thought of J.D as a son. Trying to teach him how to get through life as best he could but unable to show that in anything other then tough love.

Scrubs has become my favorite show. This was such a profound way to look at death. Instead of having Colin Hay sing it, I loved the way it was sung together.

Janitor truly has a wonderful voice. I now always hear those lines he sings in his voice whenever I listen to the original song. "And you say, be still, my love."

They all sing beautifully. I'd probably say Judy Reyes is my favorite out of the scrubs cast. So much passion.

Something that gets overlooked too is Laverne is often seen as the resident sassy, older nurse who doesnt take her job too seriously. You can see here that she doesnt walk to the patient, she sprints and you can tell by how she spoke with JD how concerned she was. It goes to show on the surface how we judge the cahracters, but how they still care nonetheless when it matters most.

After I first saw this episode, right after the song ended it was like this huge slap in the face. But then you know it'll all be ok. I mean DANG I love that show.

Elaine's death is one of the biggest gut punches in the series. Especially since the way the episode pans out, it seems like the pregnant lady would die and Elaine would get her heart. Which would still be sad, but it was kind of what you expected to happen, so it wouldn't have hit so hard. But then she and her child both survived, and what a happy surprise! But just as your mind is turning to Elaine, Laverne rushes past JD with "She's coding!" And then it hits you.

This is one of my favourite episodes of Scrubs. I well up every time I see the end, and I remember the first time I watched it I actually cried at 1:49. I think her storyline sums up my entire perspective on life and death.
