Burns Night Less they get stuck with someone much more cruel who is more for money and rather helping the patients. Kelso walked on a fine line between medical bureaucracy and treatment of patients. In Episode 105 My Two Dads 'Like it or not, medicine is a business. If the hospital shuts down, then who are we helping?' He truly does care, but knows he has to be the villain for the good of everyone around him. We saw the true dark side of money over medicine with Courtney Cox as Dr. Maddox at the start of Season 8.

Also, the Hospital still needed to keep afloat. It's great to be idealistic like Cox is, and sometimes Kelso is a straight up asshole buying things for himself, but JD admits he wouldn't want to have to make the decisions he makes and, deep down, he cares but he's too proud to admit it.

All the people commenting on the war, and they seem to have missed the main point of this scene, hell, this episode. It was not about the war, it was about how, no matter what your opinion is on something, you should keep it out of your workplace, particularly when you work in a hospital, as it can lead to hostility and jobs being inadequately done, as kelso points out. Kelso's job here is to remind the characters that the hospital is where they work, and they have to focus completely on that work, otherwise people would die

What I love about this clip is that there is another show that tried to do the same concept but lost the point. Family Guy tried to make Meg the lighting rod when she finally stood up for herself, but she is not only a kid, but she has no authority or power in the household and therefore the family is punching down. Kelso has the power to unite his team, and is willing to sacrifice being always loved for being a strong leader.

A bunch of so called professional adults, who let's be honest think a lot of themselves, they think they are the most moral, noble, always putting the hospital before themselves, doctors nearly let a patient die because they were to busy squabbling and a man had to make himself the bad guy to get these idiots to do their job, that is truly depressing. Cox rants that all Kelso cares about is money, well he does have a hospital to run, and Cox drives a Porsche and lives in an expensive apartment, I'm quessing he has never offered to take a pay cut to help the hospital. Kelso is not a great guy, but putting up with crap like this is probably part of what made him so nasty.
