As confirmed by others, you do not need any of the other films to enjoy this movie. I just saw it a couple of days ago, and I was genuinely surprised by how good it was. DPS did exceptional (as usual) depicting Death here, and when you watch the movie it'll just add more depth to his bars

I only watched The Last Wish. I mean sure I saw the first Shrek movie, maybe 2nd idk. Probably would’ve got a little more backstory with seeing the last Puss in Boots movies, but this movie maybe generally covered the characters well enough to enjoy it. TLDR, it’s worth watching even after not seeing the earlier Puss in Boots movies.
