As the world tries to reduce emissions, the voluntary carbon offset market is growing in importance. But critics say some offset projects have far less impact than they claim, and allegations of greenwashing are growing against companies using low-quality offsets. Moves are being made to help buyers identify high projects, but it won’t be easy.

What about limiting the carbon offset to certain projects that will have many benefits like: Great Green Wall (GGW) for the Sahel and the Sahara. The Sahara is bigger than Europe, the total area of the southern portion of the GGW initiative extends to 156 Mha. The northerner portion could be as big. GGW has many benefits, CO2 offset, alleviating poverty in the countries most affecting by climate change, help reduce migration from this region, more arable land.
