I hate her "I reject the premise of your question." The question is, is Amazon a dangerous place to work & is the company doing everything it can to keep their employees safe. Asking employees survey questions about if they'd recommend working for Amazon is irrelevant & pure deflection. So that means she knows it's dangerous but refuses to even acknowledge it's a possibility.

"We benchmark pay against other businesses," said Amazon. This approach effectively shifts the responsibility for fair wages away from the company. If Amazon genuinely wanted to ensure their workers earn a wage that allows for comfortable living, they would determine salaries independently, rather than relying on external comparisons.

Former Amazon employee here: Worker a full year down in Amazon robotics center. They track your work by how many items you scan in a hour, however there are lots of days when theres no orders and its dead yet you can still get written up for productivity despite the fact theres no work, managers go out their way to make employees feel like crap, they will write you up for anything, its designed for you to get fired eventually. Or quit, all the problems at amazon stems from management, the work isnt hard but they’ve designed it to where you can get in trouble for not working 10 hours straight everyday even when it isnt possible. Management enforces policies they themselves know shoot them in the foot, they labor share you from different departments if you department has low volume, but you can get shared to a department that also has low volume, So no work in your department they send you on the other side of the building where there’s still no work. Again managers at Amazon are very strange, i was lucky enough to have enough managers to count on one hand that were actually cool, the rest have no problem writing you up for whatever they can, They have a no headphone policy but have approved headphone no surprise you have to buy them from amazon

It's all through an AI voice chat system for pickers and through an RF gun for forjlift operators. All linked to a system like one called Manhattan. They also have UI's that interface with MHE's to see exactly where people are in x depot. The 2 speakers for amazon are textbook management's mouthpieces for any major up-to-date warrhouse business. @Liverpoolboy01 No, I reckon they all heard that loud and clear, the MPs, sat back and stopped pushing when she said they answered the questionnaires "on their device" that they do all their work on, since it was already established earlier on record that all those devices are tracked and used to identify what worker is doing what when. This means it is now on record that an employee couldn't reasonably expect privacy in their answers to that specific question. She gave away that it was a digital survey.

@@victoriafielding2478 just for you: For five decades, successive UK governments utilized the parallel economy-a network of offshore tax havens, shadow banking systems, and transfer pricing mechanisms-to hide profits, underreport GDP, and mislead the EU about its true economic standing. David Cameron, along with figures like George Osborne and Theresa May, ensured that the UK would remain outside of any forthcoming EU-wide tax and financial transparency regulations. Farage, along with other far-right leaders, used nationalist rhetoric to foster resentment towards the European Union, framing the EU as an oppressive entity that threatened the sovereignty of the UK. However, the real motive behind Farage's involvement was much more insidious: Nigel Farage was used as a prop and front to rally public support for an hidden agenda that ultimately sought to protect the UK's hidden financial criminal activities against the EU. Through his rhetoric, Farage helped to create the illusion of a struggle for sovereignty when, in reality, the UK's financial elite, along with key political figures such as David Cameron, were trying to avoid being held accountable for the crimes committed over decades. The far-right's agenda, championed by figures like Farage, exploited the fears of economic inequality and cultural erosion among the UK’s working-class population, shifting their focus to immigration and EU governance. The true criminals, however, were the financial elites who benefited from the exploitation of the EU’s financial system and who had much to lose if their illicit practices were exposed. The far-right propaganda machine served as the perfect diversion, rallying the masses behind the idea that leaving the EU was a fight for the UK's sovereignty, all while ensuring that the real financial abuses remained hidden behind a veil of nationalism. The Brexit referendum of 2016 and the decision to leave the European Union was not merely a political maneuver. Behind the scenes, it was a desperate attempt to shield the UK from legal scrutiny regarding its financial crimes against the EU. David Cameron was fully aware of the long-standing financial manipulations orchestrated by the UK. He was privy to the UK’s actions that were designed to exploit EU financial systems, and his role in leading the Brexit campaign was strategically engineered to avoid deeper EU scrutiny. David Cameron knew that the EU, in the face of increasing demands for tax transparency and accountability, would soon introduce stricter regulations and data-sharing agreements that would make it impossible for the UK to continue hiding its true economic activity and these new measures would expose the parallel economy and unmask the UK’s long-standing tax avoidance schemes. Brexit served as a pre-emptive strike, allowing the UK to escape the EU's financial oversight and avoid the disclosure of criminal activities that had been going on for 50 years.

I would be interested to see if similar Amazon facilities/buildings had increase in their workers during the May-June period of 2023. Also I do not believe they did not know the reason for the Coventery strike, they must have known they would get asked that so either they lied or intentionally avoided that information to claim ignorance so that it was not said in so public a forum

31:10 says it all. These companies spend millions on PR firms and rehearse lines to dodge questions, yet they “can’t recall” why their employees are striking. If they genuinely don’t know, it shows they’re not listening and don’t care. If they do know but claim otherwise, they’re lying to the committee. Either way, it’s disgraceful. Hold these assjacks accountable-jail them.

As a former corporate retail employee let me correct a few things said by the amazon reps. 1). Changing from 14 to 7 days for strike notification does NOT impact them at all. All retail companies have mitigation plans and as a fc/dc they have systems that all to reroute shipment to another facility or subs. 2). They dont have that data or dont have the ability to track employees and use it against them. 100% bs. We had the tools and tracked productivity by employee in the retail world including the FC/DC facilities. We had everything on our employees that I knew when a planner entered the ERP, what they changed, the exact metrics, the freq of the visits/logins, durations, idle time - you name it. Never used it maliciously but my companies didnt have Amazons/Bezos reputation.

There are a lot of companies. Openly flouting health and safety law. But going by what friends have told me. Amazon’s health and safety record is atrocious. And a highly dangerous place to work in. Government bodies need to take this issue very seriously with all these companies. When there are workers having to work 60/70 hour weeks just to pay the bills and not even able to keep up with the cost of living . This coupled with draconian dangerous working conditions. It’s no wonder no wonder the workers end up on incapacity benefits. These employers are the real scrounger’s being subsidised by tax payers . When pay is so low that people have no other choice than to claim benefits to supplement their unrealistic incomes from work.
