Scuba Diving Lake Jindabyne, The Old Township, plus historical footage.

Whilst roving about KZbin came across this little gem with much significance to me. My grandfather Tom Weston gives an insight to the old township properties from an early photo back in the day. Tom Weston was a well known identity around the Cooma district with the Stock and Station fraternity due to his knowledge until is passing at the young age of 96. On a personal note my Grandfather was one of the best men I have ever known, his bond on any matter was his word.

Great vid ! I grew up in the Monaro and the Mcguffick head stone in the old film is my best mates great grandfather ! Imagine how many roast legs of lamb were cooked in that old homesteads combustion stove back in the day !

Little did I know. I heard it was Adaminaby that had to move from the waters and something about the old church bell can sometimes be heard to ring. I did not know it was Jindabyne. Great video.

Both towns were moved, and there's a great story of a lady baking cookies while her house was on the truck being moved to new Adaminaby.

Contact the snowy hydro visitors centre in Cooma , they have all the old films there

Excellent. Can you dive on the old churches or were they demolished?

Rod A thanks, I’m glad you liked it. It’s quite possible the churches remain, we just didn’t have the marks to dive them. I’m only aware of the bridge being demolished. Judging by the condition of the homesteads the churches would surely be in decent condition if they were left intact.
