The hooch is a dangerous river as some Atlantan know during calm times you won’t find much difficulty but when Buford releases water a different story even more so in that area near the dam

I've seen first hand how fast the water comes out of Buford Dam when they open it. I've also had my ears ring from the siren they blow as a warning. FYI for those who've not experienced the Chattahoochee's temps; my toes turned super red inside of 5 minutes, in the middle of July. Really cold water. My hat's off to you, for braving it to dive. 🥶

Good dive Jeremy , didn't get much out of the water for sure , but you did pass on some very valuable information about the state of the river , it's cold temp and underwater hazards. It's a sad time when anyone looses their life in the water or anywhere for that matter , sad to learn of the Kayaker who lost his life there. Getting trapped in all the underwater trees could very easily cause one to drown. With fast flowing water it can lodge you under things long enough to drown. Stay safe cool dive.
