Ya, wrong gearing and motor for that type of job. I'm under the assumption he's been doing recoverys for awhile, he has to know this. Throw a "Doubler" in there and air down to 8-10 psi will fix most the problems we're looking at....but again, he has to know this. However, those Swampers have never "complied" very well to the rocks...just the nature of the design.

It's tough to say what their pressure is at. People that get a very big tire with a light weight vehicle have a tough time airing down. I used to buy the old Top Truck Challenge vids and there was a competitor there who ran one half PSI in his tires. I also have heard of people taking the valve cores completely out. Sometimes there is only so much flex you can get.

Yea he just needs to get it dialed in. Suspension seems stiff and air pressure in tires to high. Camshaft seems a little agressive for that specific application...

This video does not show Streamline auto in a good way. Wrecker drivers, especially offroad recovery drivers should be some of the best drivers. This does not show that.

When you make major changes to a truck, it takes some seat time to get to know the truck again. Off-road in not the same as just driving down the road. It won't take long for Scuba to get it worked out.

Air down & poor engine for off road. Not exactly smooth power delivery at low rpm. Seems like it wants to jump to its happy place soon as he applies throttle. Different cam at least

Great looking truck . One of the best I've seen besides the red BSF GMC. Everyone is hating on him because he was having trouble with traction . It's just a traction problem and tire air pressure . Plus that surface is just brutally slick and a tough angle. It's a new setup for him, I'm sure he will figure it out

Hard to tell for sure if he has lockers or not, but that would help along with airing down. The other thing is he has a too high of a stall converter on the transmission. I'm not a big fan of a cammed engine and high stall torque converter for off road. Keep that stuff for the track.

@2:00 This rig is nice but the driver needs more experience. Those tires have about 30 pounds too much air in them to be rock crawling over muddy terrain. All those upgrades and the most important off road upgrade, and the first upgrade you should ever do, is a quality air compressor for inflating/deflating on the trails. Keep bouncing and spinning tires and something is going to break eventually idc what axles you have under it.

Wow, lots of design mistakes on that one. No low end torgue, which leads to an all or nothing throttle, which leads to always spinning not climbing. WTH, no lockers? The thing with reockwell top loaders is that with a 44" tire, you still don't have much ground clearance. Hence the wrecker finally having to give up and use the bypass. The fabrication of the wrecker and cage do look great!
