I had to come back to this after I heard the news of Vin Scully. I didn’t get to hear him much but I remember watching this game and being so exited. Rest In Peace to the greatest commentator ever.

Man I still remember that phrase "one, miserable, measly out" What a way with words 5:56 "There is one out to go. One miserable, measly out." Then when he gets the no hitter, he doesn't speak for a while just to let the moment, the crowd noise, the players celebrating just speak for itself. Rest in peace legend, you were the white grandpa I never had as an Asian boy growing up in LA watching the boys in blue every summer. I take solace in the fact that at the very least, the man accomplished all he could, told all the stories he could tell, and has millions of people that will remember him even after he has passed.

Vin sounds less enthusiastic to people who aren't used to him because he's never manufacturing it. His delivery is completely organic. This guy has watched every Dodger game for 60 years -- he's seen absolutely everything, from dozens of all-time great players. There's nothing to be surprised about. One thing that Vin has above every other broadcaster is wordplay -- the man is a poet. How many of today's young announcers could handle doing color and play-by-play alone? ESPN and Fox guys make me want to stab myself in the ears as it is.

@ares88695 жыл бұрын
@@whoisfrancooo Colour commentating or broadcasting is when you dive deeper into the plays that were made and why they made them, Play by Play is where you call out what is happening at the time and chime in a little bit with the colour. Hope this clarifies for you, have a great day

any pitcher who allows zero hits, with zero walks, zero batters hit and zero errors on the pitcher is a perfect game in my books.
@Magzillas10 жыл бұрын
I agree. Sadly, we have to have a term for the absolute best performance a pitcher can put on, and that's 27 men up, 27 men down. You may notice that a lot of history's perfect games have some web gem defensive plays in them helping the pitcher out. Here, what could have easily been a perfect game for Kershaw with how he was pitching got (literally) thrown away by his shortstop on a relatively routine play.
@Frigoffrick10 жыл бұрын
Luke Piper you can give up 9 hits and get 27 up 27 down if u allow 1 hit per inning and 1 double play per inning

I am a huge Dodger fan, but I refuse to watch their games, because I am afraid I am gonna Jinx them, I am superstitious like that. However, I couldn't resist when I fount out around the 6th inning he was perfect, I had to watch it. So I was lucky enough to see the final 3 innings.

WTF!!?? That's bullshit man!!!! That's the reason to watch Dodger Baseball in LA, to hear Vin Scully doing play by play. It's bad enough we don't get it in Las Vegas, but why in the hell would LA Cable Companies not carry it? What the hell are these people smoking?

"Wild Man" Dean i know! tell me about it! the simple explanation is that time warner bought the dodgers tv rights for way more than anybody thought they were worth. so they demanded all the other providers (directive, at&t, etc.) raise prices higher than they were willing to. so time warner is kind of in a stand off with all the other cable providers over the price of the channel. which leaves fans like me trying to stream it semi-legally of websites lol. so stupid

I'm almost glad I didn't hear Vin call the game, because I was sitting in the stadium with a game used ball. Next step, get Kershaw to sign it.
