To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Alien 3, I have created a Xenomorph Diorama using Polymer Clay.
The third Instalment in the Alien saga is a much under-appreciated movie, and although it doesn't live up to the first 2 films, its still a good movie (especially the Assembly Cut).

Thanks very much. I do like the movie though, I came out of the cinema in 92 and I hated it, but over the years it grew on me and once I saw the assembly cut, it became a much better film. However I do believe it pales in comparison to the first two....it ain't no Aliens that's for sure! I think it probably should have ended after Alien 3, because everything that followed is terrible in my opinion. Thanks again 👍

I might need to watch the "Assembly Cut" because I did not like Alien 3 much. This sculpture, on the other hand, I do like, a lot. In fact I just interrupted my polymer clay sculpting to watch this instead!

When I came out of the cinema back in 92 after watching Alien 3, I hated the movie! It did slowly grow on me over the years, but when they released the Assembly cut, it definitely made it a much better movie, in my opinion. It's the only version i ever watch now. It's still not the sequel we all want, but it completes the trilogy for me. I only wish that they had stopped there, because everything that came after this is garbage! Thanks so much for your kind comments. The Alien 3 sculpture is one of my favourites, to be honest. It's difficult to put a time on this one, maybe 10 days or so, just a few hours each day. Thanks again 👍

Loved watching you create this.... Stunning. I am new to clay making , and wondered what the glue and spray was , at the beginning when you were joining your armiture ( alien arms and legs on to the body ). 1:00 I am aware of sculpey adhesive in small bottles...but this was different. Was it super glue or something , ? But what was spray ...a freezer of some kind ? does something like they use when joining chocolate pieces together in the food industry. It just looks like magic , the way you get your wire pieces to join so quickly.

Hi there, thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The spray I used is a super glue accelerator. You can get the Glue And Accelerator together from Amazon, there are a few different makes, but they all do the same job. This make is called Mitre Bond. Hope this helps and thanks again 👍

very interesting to see that you sculpt most parts of the technical base instead of using sheet and plastruct/evergreen parts!! how do you get the big chunks of clay so smooth and clean?? top work!

Hi there, sorry I'm not sure what you mean by plastruct/evergreen to be honest. I generally use Balsa or Bass wood to build my Dioramas. Then I use nuts and bolts etc for any machine parts. To smooth out the surface I use sculpey clay softener. To get large even sheets of clay I run it through a pasta roller. Hope this answers your questions buddy, thanks 👍

@@theclayshack pasta roller! yeah, cool idea!! evergreen is/or was a supplier of plastic sheet in every sizes, strips of polystyrol, profiles, tubes, everything you could think of usable parts for scratching industrial environment in scale or spaceships.

How soft is the clay where it doesn't crush the work you've already done when you hold it?

I usually bake the sculpture in stages, that way you can save your progress. Also I find the sculpey medium clay holds the details better than sculpey original, so it allows you to hold the model without squashing it as much. 👍

@@theclayshack Very nice! So you baked in in multiple stages, my concern would be scorching, but you "cooked" your stages in lower time but kept the heat at 275, I was concerned how many times you can bake it before completion. Thank you for your reply.

@@TheFlashyWeasel Hi there, yes I think the Alien was cooked 4 times in all. Head first, then Head and torso, then head,torso and Arms, then a final bake with the legs added. If you start to notice that the earlier parts are starting to brown slightly, just wrap a piece of Aluminium Foil around that section to protect it. Thanks for the comment, much appreciated 👍
