This is amazing! You really are an inspiration like the other comments say since im studying art at a level and i really want to work ceramics in the future (my course has already given me experience) and i just clicked on this to get more of a demonstration. Clearly i still have a lot to learn but thank you, i didnt expect to learn so much in so little time, ive always struggled when it comes to the best method for creating scales:)

Truly inspirational work, I wish the video was a little slower. I would like to see what exactly you are doing in key steps. Can you explain what you are doing to make the scales; are you using a tool, what tool or are you carving them? Also, what mold material and casting material are you using? Thanks for sharing and keep up the amazing work!
@DavidLeePancakeArt9 жыл бұрын
+polydragon1 Hi, I am pinching the clay into a triangle and then using a dental tool with a spoon like base I mash the clay onto the sculpt. I used super sculpey firm.

Fantastic work Dave, a well earned thumbs up, really awe inspiring. I draw as a hobbey and I really love to put in those small and tiny details that may not seem like much to anyone else but when others see the finished result, they then realise it was worth it, and I really love the fact that you take that pain staking step to work on the tiny details too. Although I know it's not for everyone and you need the time and the patience to work on those small but very important details. Everyone has their own definition of art, personally contemporary art has never moved me but this, is MY definition, absolutely Fantastic. I really hope you upload more vids. Just one question sir...do you sell your work at all?

Fantastic mate!!! how do you sculpt dragon scales?
@bunbunmochi22619 жыл бұрын
Martyn Wootton I'm pretty sure he took a bit of clay with a thin end and made it pointed so that when he put it on, he wouldn't need to mess with it
@DavidLeePancakeArt9 жыл бұрын
+Martyn Wootton Each scale is laid down individually. I pinch the clay into a triangle and mash it onto the sculpt.
@anway19538 жыл бұрын
+David Lee Pancake that is a brilliant technique!

Nevalen Shierson you are correct. The More tooling of the work the worse it looks. Better to shape the scale and push it down with a smooth tool.
