Ive watched these videos a dozen times over and im working on my first sculpt, you make it look so easy and i spent an hour just trying to get the nose looking nose shaped. Still not happy with the shape but i know itll take practice. Very informative content and enjoying the process.

another great video! I'm glad to see more feminine anatomy detail, about 1/3 of player group are ladies and they do a great job of calling me out if there are too few females on the table. Tutorials like this help me keep the women recognizable at scale so it actually looks like a diverse world.

+Dennis Bingham I completely agree. I remember growing up with nothing but 40k dude miniatures so it's easy to get lost and forget about incorporating other genders or even races. Some of most rewarding pieces I've done are ones where I broke out of that comfort zone.

Thanks for another great tutorial. I've been working on my first sculpt, while following along with your videos. I was wondering if you could provide any tips (or make a separate follow up video) on sculpting facial expressions?

+Andrew Goldstein I do plan on making a video about this in the future. Needless to say, keep practicing regular faces so you can master the proportions and the small movements necessary to make faces. From there it's a lot of minor tweaking. Thanks for watching!

Have you ever tried the oil clay sculptor's trick of spraying a can of compressed air upside down to super cool your piece to a harder consistency? It works really well with that, not sure if/how it'd effect the polymer clay when it's baked. Might give it a try though, just be careful you don't freezer burn yourself!

+Zak Hoskins interesting technique. I've never tried that before.

how do you stop the fimo from shifting when you apply more material, do you use a specific type of fimo or technique?
@TomMasonSculptor

+elliot parry the FIMO will always shift some so the first thing is simply getting used to it and developing the muscle memory to deal with it. However one big tip that helps me is that after you lay down the initial bulking layer, it's a good idea to let the piece sit for a bit. This helps the clay cool off some and it tends to not shift around quite as much. Assuming your workspace isn't also a very hot room :) Hope that helps.

I can't understand how you keep your fimo this "smooth" when you move it. This fimo seems harder than mine and seems behave like procreate.

There are a couple things that could be effecting how soft your FIMO is. First, make sure you are using FIMO Professional and not FIMO Soft. The second thing is the ambient temperature of your workspace and hands. If they are very warm, the clay will be softer. It can help to put the clay on into a rough shape, then let it be for a few minutes. This gives it some time to cool down and gives a little more control.

I feel like my tool are always making "sharp" edges, but the problem must be the hand carrying them :D! Grey tools seems softer than black ones, I should get them to.

Maybe they are also to big for 25mm minis

@@dorianfarin6073 That's possible. Some of the clay shapers are very large.
