Pain that stops you from doing what you enjoy or getting into flow mode is truly one of the worst feelings, and when that pain is chronic? It's absolutely brutal. I've been in a similar situation myself for far too long now. Thank you for sharing this update Jackie, and I hope your pain lessens enough that you can craft again soon, but I will keep watching your channel regardless of what you post- because you always put a smile on my face and make me feel a little better
@i.m.dmented32452 жыл бұрын
Crafting should always be on your own time. I found out the hard way that deadlines restrict my creativity and take the fun out out of it. I'm happy you're excited about sculpting again. 💜 Also, I loooove the fairy tale blind boxes.
@NerdEJackieVlogs2 жыл бұрын
I agree!! Deadlines have made my sculpting mediocre. I’m excited to sculpt with no deadlines for the first time
@Aghul2 жыл бұрын
I really feel that! I started studying interior architecture after school, but noticed that I lost all joy in drawing - which is my favorite thing to do usually - when all I was doing in my courses was drawing and sketching. I only started drawing for fun again when I dropped out of university and did something else instead.
@sharkgoddess2 жыл бұрын
This is exactly why I had a hard time trying to sell my art for a full time job…when it’s something I have to do, or a commission with a deadline, it completely kills my creativity. Better to just make what I want to make, when I want to make it, and if someone likes it I might gift it to them. 😉💜

Hey Jackie, I feel that hyperfocus problem a lot. I have hyperfocus too in creative creations. (Starting to crochet at 7pm and looking at the clock at 5am is just one example of that) . I started to set me alarms to take breaks for hydration, snacks and stretches, so I don't feel like run over by a car on the end.

I suffer from similar problems and I have an hourly timer go off so I know how long it’s been 😂 it’s probably super obvious but it helps me. I also have a dressing gown tie that I have around my stomach which limits my movement so I don’t lean over my work which is a killer for me! Either way take care of yourself and whether content you give us is a huge blessing ❤️✨

Oh my goodness, those fairy tales were a cuteness overload today. You asked which ones we wanted to find, so I thought, the swan, and it was! And then I thought, the baby dragon, and it was! And I thought, the wolf, and it was!! But the last one I was hoping for was the mushroom, and it was the frog, but the frog was gorgeous too...oh my gawd, I want to get them now, coz they are incredibly cute!

I do the same EXACT thing! I have some cosclay and I want to work with it, but my Arthritis has been really bad lately so I haven't been well enough to really get into it. On the plus side, I am frequenting a pain clinic, so I hope to be feelind better soonish. My son is so excited that I am hopeful for the first time in a very long time. But anyway, when I can do art, I get so absorbed that I lose track of time, space, and the people around me. I've arted through everyone else going to bed, everyone else going out, everyone else telling me they were going to bed or going out and my not having heard anything... Tunnel vision extreme! lol

I have two herniated discs and degenerative disc disease so I understand and empathize with your back pain, but I'm a painter absolutely love painting..I let my back defeat me and I didn't paint for two years..then one day I was desperate to finish a project I wanted to give my mother for mother's day coming up and I got a lap desk surrounded myself with all the supplies I would need.. I got a lazy Susan for makeup brushes and turned it into a paintbrush holder and my basic acrylic paints and literally painting from my lazy boy recliner lol.. I know it seems horrible and lazy but I haven't been this happy in years to be doing what I love again.. you just have to make your supplies work for you! Find your favorite position you can stay in for the longest and then sculpt! We don't have to know you're not at your desk or sitting at a chair most of the time we just see your hands... Feel no shame and do what you love the way it works for you that's what my therapist told me and I couldn't be happier 💙 I hope you find something that works for you!

I feel your pain Jackie. The longer i sit and do art, the more I'm hunched over a desk concentrating and my sciatic nerver starts making my entire lower body hurt and numb. I have neuropathy from diabetes so my feet start flaring up as well that i have to lay down on heating pad for relief. It really sucks having chronic pain. Its one reason i haven't edited in awhile either. Hugs i hope you can do more sculpting soon even if it takes weeks to finish due to taking breaks for pain relief. We grains love you Jackie and want you to be well and take care of yourself. We can always watch old sculpting videos or ace of clay to get our fix of it. Take care of yourself and don't fret over it. ❤️

Jackie, I have the same issues with pain related to hobbies, and loosing track of time. I would suggest setting a timer, and stopping when it goes off. If you're almost finished say, that dragon's left eye, estimate how long it will take to finish, and set the timer again. I hope this helps. All the best from Winnipeg!

And Popmart has SO much detail. I love their figures. I have 6...2 Yoki (bat), 2 Suri (elf), and 2 Bunny (self explanatory). I actually liked the wolf figure you got....Not many people remember that the original fairy tale had the wolf being cut open by the huntsman, so the scars on the figure's tummy were a fun detail.

Yes! I have high functioning Aspergers, and one of the things for me is my hyper focusing. I'm an adult living with my mom and she helps keep me on track. Like, a few hours a day I can do whatever so long as I can get things done around the house. Otherwise I'd be sitting at my art desk all day long and think it's only been an hour. Like that meme "Wait... what century is this?" Also, my selective dyslexia kicked in and I misread Dimo as Amiibo xD

I am absolutely the same... I used to work with polymer clay a lot. I would cover real eggs with a thin veneer of clay, and it would take a lot of sanding to get them as smooth as I wanted them. On multiple occasions I got so into sanding that I literally sanded my fingerprints off. I wouldn't notice until I was actually bleeding! I'll think it's been 20 or 30 minutes when it's actually been 7 hours.

I absolutely have hyper focus. Sometimes I don’t eat, drink, use the bathroom or even move for hours at a time* when I’m working on a piece of digital art (because I can do that in bed so it’s less painful). Sometimes it happens when I’m just looking at someone else’s art. If I find someone new on Instagram, I’m going through their entire catalogue of previous art. It’s a bit of a problem but I don’t do anything about it because that hyper focus is sometimes the only thing that can get me through a pain episode (I call them attacks) without ending up in the Emergency Department (ER for Amerigrains). * I think my record is like 18 hours? I know I do 6 hours regularly

If you use your phone and set alarms when you are going to work on a long project, it helps greatly. Set an alarm for an hour (or 45 minutes or whatever), and when it goes off, take a break to stretch and rest. Then set the alarm again before you begin working again. That way you don't have to try to focus on time management while you're trying to focus on working, and it makes you take breaks for your body. I have chronic pain issues as well, and I have to do this for different tasks. I have about a half a dozen alarms set just for an average day to make sure I do things I'm supposed to do, and I just set more when I'm trying to work on something. My phone even lets me add a vocal message, so I am more forced to pay attention. So I might have an alarm set in the morning, and it rings and then says, "Make sure to take your medication; it's 10 o'clock".

If you don't want to keep the sculptures, monster clay may work if you just want to have fun. Just using a microwave and hot air gun will make it super soft. It will harden up quite a but as it cools though
