SCUM 0.8: A Fresh Start In Single-Player Series (E1)

I'm starting fresh in SCUM 0.8, again. This time I'm playing single-player. Just to confirm, I will still be playing/recording videos on my server, however, I wanted to change some game settings pretty drastically and didn't want to mess up the server with my new settings. Just clarification for those coming to this after the fact: the reason he couldnt use the wire at the start is that the "health" of the wire indicates how many uses of the wire is actually there - or I like to think of it as how much length there is - he needed a full 10m roll of wire, but he only had 2m worth on him. The same is for rope, thread, toolkits etc.

I think I’m really gonna enjoy this series. Hope it plays out for a bunch of episodes. I just bought the game and after learning all the basics crafting stuff to survive i think it’s a good way to learn by watching someone go through the motions. Only bad part about is getting pumped up to play and turning on the game only to remember your graphics aren’t the same as what was on KZbin. 😢

You can adjust your settings for the vehicles so that the game will spawn complete cars. You can have both complete and semi complete vehicles spawn on the map. I did the same thing you did and changed my settings on single player with increased puppets and a higher puppet damage multiplier. The only difference is I like low loot, gives the game more of a survival feel to it. I liked your intro.

Dude I love your sever everyone is super nice and everyone helps everyone especially if there in a bind I helped foxxy after she died in the naval base trying to get her/him started it’s awesome how everyone is a great sport .. I think the fact that it’s only pve changes everyone’s minds set that the only thing to be worried about is the zeds which they are not easy sometimes or if your not prepared lol anyway keep the server the way it is and everyone on that server keep being kind and helpful! It’s a completely different environment when no one’s trying to kill each other or clicking up !

Larvae and crickets ... never eat more than 1 at a time, wait several seconds before eating another one, else .... upchuck. You get 5 FP for every grub/cricket you pick up. You should craft an ax at start...more effective than the spear. It was a wire 10m ... but its only 1/10, so you only have 1m of wire. You need all 10. Again, with the backpack, you need 3 wire/thread/rope. Thats three FULL use items, so 30 of.

you can use the sewing kit to create a puppet (improvised) quiver and a puppet (improvised) 25-slot backpack.

when youre crafting all the items either need to be on the floor or in your inventory, if you have them mixed then it wont gi ve you the option to craft, great vids, keep up the good work

I'm pretty sure that even on single player that keeping up with where the seat is won't help unless you find a car that needs it really fast. When the loot respawns it'll be replaced with something else of nothing at all. On the server I'm on I've found something like a seat and went to get the car to put it in. When I got back it had changed into something else because of how the loot respawns.

@@TheGoodishGamer Cars can be tricky. If you find one without an engine I'd leave it alone unless you want to push it to a trader. Cars with an engine you still need a jack and car repair kit for most things. Even after they supposedly fixed it I was recently able to put a tire on a car without a jack. Things like doors or hood or trunk you should only need the car repair kit. If in doubt just click on the car and check with the item in your hands. I thought it was odd I needed a jack to install a battery.

I think you needed a needle to use the wire for making a courier bag. You can make a bone needle out of the puppet

That's what I came down here to say. I like to start with the small stone axe and a spear. Metal spear when possible. I start with advanced melee. The spear doesn't work very good with one on one and the axe doesn't work very good through windows.

I like this game, but I absolutely hate the looting system. I haven't played in a while so maybe they've changed it so you can actually increase the loot/loot value, like to a point where moving the slider actually makes a difference, but everything was so skimp to where 75-80% of containers searched contained nothing to very little with the very occasional score of a gun (and even then would be in the position Goodish was in where there's gun and no clip or vice versa); even in single player when there was only one player looting. Plus I always hated how you search zombies. Why the f would you strip a body to search it's pockets 🧐 I always thought it'd be way better if they just brought up the clothes in the "nearby-by" drop down then removed clothes as/if the player removes them. Would look way better than a body suddenly and unnecessarily becoming naked in front of you and woulda cut out the janky t-pose they did when they were searched (which it looks like they took care of for the most part but it use to happen aaall the time, plus clothes appearing like 20ft away from the body when searched). Also the building system is atrocious and painfully grindy lol. But if you're willing to put up with it and play then I'll watch 😁

The looting/crafting in this game looks very deep and fun and the weapons look gorgeous. The combat physics however are unsurprisingly godawful. Seems par for the course for games like this.

the problem with this game is survival, everyone just finds the car and backpack, and the survival game is over. This genre has just turned into a "loot simulator". The zombies are horribly animated and the melee is silly looking.

I'm hoping you keep it up. This is the kind of videos I want to watch. As far as farming. If yours goes like mine it may just aggravate you. I just hit advanced last night. Mostly from pulling weeds and fertilizing all the time. I have to admit having fresh vegetables at the base is nice. I'm growing spinach, zucchini, chili peppers, and have a lemon tree. Just started the chili peppers. Now if I could just figure out which trees actually bear fruit. So far lemon trees are the only one's I've got to. I don't want to plant apple or pear. @@TheGoodishGamer Thanks. It's a work in progress. I've planted 3 sweet melons. Now to find out if that's the same as watermelon. It seems like I'm constantly replacing plants that either get old or die.
