the major problem with beepers is, even with max distance spawn, they still show up near or next to players. we've removed them for the time being as that's not exactly very fair to have one pop up less than 10ft away on max distance spawn.

hi Raykit, Would it be better to use the flamethrower in the bunker, guessing it does splash damage when puppets are grouped up ?

one thing to note, most of the puppets in the bunkers are now Heavy Armor zeds, so AP rounds will be much more appreciated than standard rounds, unless you shoot everything in the face, which is the recommended option.

Getting to watch you have god mode on but actually still show fear was cool but nothing was better than seeing you actually accept inevitable death at the end. Priceless and realistic SCUM content. GGs 😂

Not sure if you have covered this already so apologies if you have, but the new server settings for npc spawns and hordes is very confusing and I am struggling to understand what to set them to

there's a lot of options that i think server owners just weren't sure of when the update dropped, and rightly so because there was no documentation. after they dropped documentation, while a couple of us had figured how the settings work by simply testing, most people didn't read the documentation or didn't understand it, it seems. controlling the spawns, there are many options, but it'll take server owners some testing to actually get what their community wants.

Hey Raykit is there a way to increase spawn time. While looting bunkers i keep retracing my steps and finding the room i just cleared has respawned puppets and its way too frequent!

I just go in with a lmg and a backup mag. I walk out with 10-20 extra fame from the body count that ensues. You can also farm fame by luring hordes to an area you can snipe them at with a bow or a rifle, up to 10 fame a head and not hard to do.

@@RayKit there was someone a while before this, that showed himself spawning a puppet, backing up until it despawned then returning slowly until it is almost at render. He was getting headshots for 5 fame at the time.

Iam just curious if the puppets are spawn relatively close to your location, than how it is when you are in a bunkr wit idk 4 players and one is shooting. Where this system spawn a horde.

Is there a setting that changes the distance they spawn in, instead of right next to you. What's the name of that setting?

you do not have to search the puppet to find your arrows?? I have to do this most of the time....

Any ideas when the anti cheat will start to do its job? Some of us aint playing at its potential because of that :(

so.. minimum is default?I play official and they seem to vary a lot. like most of these spawns you had two on you, with then some stragglers left behind. I was in a place that had one house and a workshed thing (small stone area off the side of house) and pup randomly spawned right near me, but too far to kill right away. Spawned already aggro'ed and im sprinting at it to kill with the melee that was in my hands and it calls a horde. I would guess 6-7 were on me instantly, two seemed to teleport spawn behind me very close but the rest flooded from that one small house or just behind it. ok so I shoulda used bow but I have always prefered melee and it isnt a problem using melee if being stealth in a small area and killing them one by one quickly. Problem is, and Devs have stated this in steam forums as legit, randomly a pup will spawn already aware of you. if the distance is to far to sprint and kill in time or if you miss your arrow shots, its already in the aggro stage when spawned and will very quickly call a horde. A lot of this new system is cool but it needs a lot of work to become more immersive while still keeping the challenging aspects of it. atm hordes buy default are small and frequent. We can get used to dealing with them that way, how we can evade them or have fallback points etc. Imagine tho, a much less frequent chance of a horde, Like similar to a chance of finding a good rifle, if you compare every search containier to every puppet that sees you or sound you make.. what is that like 1 in 200 in a POI? but when it triggers its a very high number, like 30-50 or so, as long as it did not cause huge lag spikes, I think I'd prefer it that way. Kinda just never knowing when one might come, after a while becoming complacent, and then... BAM! If making it into a safe place like up high or a locked room, they should eventually disperse with about 50% despawning after like 15 mins for performance. People might not like this cos its not really a winnable situation unless up high and having a lot of ammo, but a similar kinda threat to triggering Brenner, smartest to fall back.

do the hordes work the same in the abandoned bunkers? I havent been to an abandonded bunker since 0.95

Puppets and even beepers will spawn suddenly and in areas that have already been cleared minutes or even seconds of you being there. I attempted to raid a few after the update and found myself simultaneously discouraged and baffled that someone actually believed this was a good change for the game. Try it yourself, if you must, but from someone who has raided these places hundreds of times across servers with highly contrasting difficulty levels, it ain't worth it.

Does a suppressor have any effect on spawning a horde?

it should. imagine an invisible sound meter that gets filled up the more noise you make. it's based on the level of noise, and how often noise happens. 3 people in a bunker checking boxes constantly, even though they may be sneaking, are going to draw a horde because the search of boxes fills that meter. you can fire off a few suppressed rounds and not call a horde.

Used to enjoy the game in its early days of release, used to go hunting with my shotgun, occasionally run and clear towns and bunkers alone. Then came the updates that required you to spend much more time on health food and now the horde. Sure there must be hardcore fans that enjoy these but most regular joes who wanted to explore left the game because of this.

This makes the game actually difficult, which is awesome for server owners and single player alike. PVE is actually challenging without turning puppet damage super high if you're going for high-tier loot.

The Horde system is stupid, puppets are still not a threat. This may not be so noticeable in a bunker but in a city it looks terrible when they grow out of the ground and in places that were completely empty just seconds ago. You don't even have to fight in the bunker, you open two opposite doors and they get stuck there. I still can't understand how anyone can like this crap.

Tip hordes will bash open abandoned bunker doors even the ones that require power, even if there is no power, puppets can be your friend in abandoned bunkers.... Another tip when your body disappears, which it will if you are under ground or on the first floor of a building, look on the floor above, on the roof or on the ground above where u died.... Another. when your loot vanishes when u pull it out of a box or a car look under the car, or under the box, it wont appear in your vacinity.... Another tip is the game is so incredibly buggy its not worth playing till the devs come back from holiday and fix it.... I hate to say it but its not in good shape right now, i love the game but damn its not in good condition since 0.95 dropped

Puppets were already adjustable in terms of their numbers and lethality, prior to the 0.95 update, and the difference in the level of challenge was evident between servers with different settings. This new system feels like a cheap and unamusing parlor trick performed by a shady magician who's trying to swindle you out of your hard earned money with his lack of talent and imagination. This change is also very reminiscent of what they tried with hunting animals and from what I've seen so far, this situation has created even more ire within the community than that did. Not sure what adjustments can be made to salvage this episode of "Reinventing the Wheel" but, I guess we'll see.

idk bro, i get what you are saying but servers in the past making puppets harder by increasing their damage to 3 hits kills you was also a cheap trick. a hit that garanteed infection and that needed specific ways to heal/stop that infection would be better. like an actual Zombie RP server.. IF servers had that option, I dont think they do and if they do have a chance of infection multiplyer, its likely assigned to all wounds, not just puppet hits

@@oynlengeymer2434 That decision is, and should be, entirely up to the server owners and single players. I suspect that the majority of players fall into a certain range of tolerance for various difficulty settings but there will always be individuals and groups that occupy the fringes of any given range. Therefore, the best thing developers can do to make their game appealing to a larger spectrum of players is provide a creative framework of flexible game mechanics in which players of various preferences, tolerances, and idiosyncratic limitations and behavioral tendencies have the freedom to explore and choose their own pathway toward failure and success. Similarly, server owners who want to establish and maintain high player numbers should be attuned to the needs and desires of their respective communities and be receptive to change, as much as possible. The problem with this recent change is that it objectively sucks. Why? Because in no other scenario would the spontaneous appearance of enemies in close proximity from a random, invisible tear in the fabric of digital space and time be considered an enjoyable, believable and tolerable obstacle. The level of suspension of disbelief is simply way too high, especially in the context of a game that often distinguishes itself as "the most realistic survival game".

The latest update is a laugh, or rather a cry. This is how to destroy a mechanism that worked. Why is that? That stupid spawn has nothing to do with reality. I don't understand how anyone can defend this update.

Unfortunately the "Op Bow & Arrow Cheese" screws up all the devs hard work the bows are Op to the point they are an exploit and the game desperately needs a full melee combat rework now too.

Interesting, however I gotta say, I was bored after an hour... it's a same old scum gameplay loop.. nothing happens, everything you do is pointless, eternal looting, boring af... players are nowhere to be found, and when you do, after 5 days, pray to lord almighty that there aren't more than 20 people on the server because desync will kill you faster than the plague... also horde spawning is hilariously bad.. and "horde" beiing a maximum of 5 zombies is honestly simply tragic and laughable...so yeah.... to each their own, but I did find way more fun in other games.
