It's a business and they have teams for different things, those cosmetics only needs the art team to add 3D assets to the game, the art team is probably not responsible for fixing bugs or gameplay related issues. I was at the D4 airfield the other day... And I was appalled.... So they have just thrown a BUNCH of bushes all over the place to be able to hide puppet spawns and spawn them near you. I used to love the D4 airfield :(

The removal of animals (without playing a dumb mini game) and the pop in zombies that spawn in a few feet from you killed the game for me. The world feels lifeless and dull in a way it didn't before and all the planning in the world means nothing in the face of these nonsensical spawns. Hopefully, the devs can turn things around, but I'm not coming back to this game until/if the glaring issues are addressed in a meaningful way

@@rickstas2683 There's hunting, but it's a mini-game now. Previously, you'd come across animals randomly. Chickens and goats hanging around farms and such. Now, you'll hear them but won't see them until you hunt them through the mini-game. Very un-immersive. The only animals still encountered outside the mini-game are wolves and bears, but far less often than in earlier builds

i love scum but almost all the content creators do not actually have knowledge like a veteran scum player does. So many of the content creators for scum just love drama and validation. We need more kings like you and casual who actually do good for the game and do not just blindly follow the devs. These devs are some of the best devs ive ever seen, I feel bad for them that they made the decision to partner with jagex.

These devs have failed to make a multiplayer game and it sucked before jagex took over. Pve too easy and pvp non existant. Been waiting years for them to get players to cross paths. The game is single player and always relied on private server owners to make the game fun. I don't think Jagex have even stepped in yet.

They simplified it too much hordes are dumb all the cool vehicles are gone graphic change for the worse the lack of story mode ever is also really dumb if you just jumped on with no explanation your playing day z with better graphics. You'd never know the rich background story. My group comes every few months to check it out and nothing has changed in a year for the better. 7 days took 14 years but they made big changes for the better with a solid road map. I will wait but I won't hold my breath I feel it will be a failed game.

I played this game at launch and was part of a server called Territory and War, those were truly the golden years of scum. I strongly believe that ever since they added in base building , the game has just been on a downhill slope. They continued to ignore loads of bugs in favor of adding more content, which ended up producing more problems, burying the original problems farther and farther down. Not to mention, the whole bot situation. True story, During Territory and War server many many years ago, before any bots existed on Scum, we were trying to make our server somehow better ( I eventually became an owner of the same server!), the idea of a kill feed came to mind and soon enough we reached out to a modder/hacker. Paid em, he made the bot and soon discovered that it was quite easy to get into their games files, etc. I don't know the exact terminology, but he was forced to let them know about what had happened and what he was trying to do for our server. Approved, we were quite literally the first server to ever have any sort of bot and naturally, that same person turned around later on and decided "Hey I can make a profit from this!" I don't blame him, but soon most if not all servers were filled with bots and it ruined the game in general. Where people would have to go out and earn their gear, scavenge and get nice kills on unsuspecting players, now had been reduced to people just ordering their gear and having it dropped off to them. I took a huge break from the game and upon my return, nothing has changed at all. They continue to just pile more and more content into the game and ignoring all the issues in the game. Top that off, I along with many others got into the beta testing, so in the discord we were able to communicate directly with them. As soon as the bots were a huge thing, no one wanted it to go away and ignored the fact that it was ruining the whole point of the game. Not to mention, many within the beta testing discord favor content over fixing bugs. I was laughed at many times and soon just left the discord all together. I cannot support a game that has devs with their heads up their asses and refuse to see the issues before them. Thats my rant and little bit of history of Scum from my end. Heck, I even at one point had the highest viewed lock picking video. I was quite literally the first to put one up on youtube, but I had later hide it since I stopped playing the game. But its still there! Just more -now- have more views than mine since I had it hidden lmao.

i played every major update from 0.4 up until the puppet spawns drastically changed. the way they take 2 steps forward, 1 step back with every update was frustrating to play through all the time but i really liked the potential the game has so i put up with alot of those issues. but once the puppet spawn changes happened, that was enough to fully drive me away. it sucks, some days i was one of the only streamers playing that game daily and i was always rooting for it. but after almost 1k hours, optimism kinda started to go away. i genuinely hope when 1.0 happens and mod support comes in, modders will take the game to a better state. thats the only way i see many people like myself play the game again. good video, i actually found you through other videos of yours but im glad i caught this one.

SCUM devs seemed to almost listen to the community too much. Instead of focusing on their core vision they started catering to these requests for kind of obscure and overly punishing hardcore survival features. EA development is fragile and as soon as they start going out of their way for small and highly specific feature requests things tend to get spaghetti coded. Over time the core gameplay suffers because the devs get too far ahead of themselves. Theyre creating what should be near release features way too early.

I didnt really see this video as a good review of the game . I was expecting some actual footage of whats wrong with the game. You showed only cinematics and you spent 4-5 minutes of the video talking about other content creators shaming you for your previous review and a Dev banning Casual Wardaog on Twitter? I would encourage you to play the game and record some footage of what you think needs to be improved. Cause i do agree that the game has issues, but i dont see the DLC's as a relevant argument for Scum's progress. Scum got bought up by Jagex so its natural they want to earn some money, which would be DLC's. Was my game of all time. Until last december. (0.8 didn't like it, but well... played it) Now the only game I used to play, its uninstalled. I stayed on for 6 months after the disastrous horde update with the illusionary hope that they would bring back the spawn system (not the horde, the base spawn system)... posting regularly on the steam forums. The only word to describe it is unplayable, not because of the difficulty, but because of the HUGE break in immersion that the new spawn system added to the game. I felt like I was walking around an empty map with trees and bushes chasing me and throwing puppets all around me. Like hell, an hostile bush, maybe 3 or 4 puppets will spawn near it.... Survival? no... the correct term for this game is, joke.

Such a disappointment. Sick of checking on updates and seeing nothing good has been added. Its so obvious what the game needs and they just refused to add it. Promising to add the obvious at 1.0 7 years later btw. It's been living on hype for too long. It was always lacking players due to its massive map and they did nothing to fix this. I streamed it for over a year and just couldn't do it anymore as it just became a repetive borefest. The devs do not like negative feedback and reward positive feedback like no one's business. Steam forums are a shocker. They just banned me. I refuse to play this game again unless Shroud recommends it. He never will. I first heard of the game from Shroud.

With the horde and the spawn system they messed up bad. So bad that I stoped playing. So bad that I never bought any useless DLCs because I hesitate supporting a project what is going clearly in a very wrong direction. Removing content to replace it with broken content is not ideal. As a PvE player I went further and I play other games now. I have no hopes that the SCUM Devs might fix all the problems. Maybe they are not even really interested into fixing it.

I agree. Also, I recently came back from a long break to see these things and noticed something disturbing. The remaining English speaking playerbase is very reclusive and several I've killed had vehicles full of perverse items with pink little backpacks and the other pink things and the sextoys. Thanks for the update. I've been looking into it again, and they showed the new content for the next patch. They are releasing quests that, according to the devs themselves, will allow players to do exactly what they've always been doing, but with rewards for doing them. So, they added an entirely new system that accomplishes ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, while not fixing anything that was broken about all of the other new systems that they added, just to get it ready for 1.0. So.... I think you may be right that this isn't worth going back to, even 3 months later. It hurts me. I really does. :'( Also, it wasn't just Wardog, which I'm assuming is who you meant. I heard reports from others who were blocked. Gampires just decided that they were not a fan of critics.

I did play the game since 2019 till it stop to be fun at 0.8 more exactly, had 1.5K hrs of gameplay. And i agree 100% with what you saying in this video and you are not the only one who said it. Even people who have their names in the game said it and left the game after they seen how bad this game become. The game is totally DEAD. What made that version better for you? I played that version when i was first introduced to the game. And that version for me felt... Entirely unfinished and empty. Clonky and just overall ugh... I literally could not sit on the game for more than a few minutes. But i played 0.8 and thought it was better. Then 0.95 i loved! I got really into it but what sent me away and put off from playing and it was because of the player wipes. Bc they came at inconvenient times, when i was just getting a better feel for it. Got my base finally set up and all is well and boom! Player wipe. I couldn't get behind starting over and over. I get that's how the game functions. Being forced to do it takes me out. If i feel like restarting from the beginning that's cool, if i feel like doing so. But if I'm forced im just wtf i wasn't ready to start over. That really took me out. It is still in my library i sometimes log in to it just to get that feeling again. Doesn't last long anymore

Scum had the chance to become one of the greatest survival games,.... it is good looking, pretty realistic and UE4 performance is good. Instead of focusing on more survival mechanics obviously the decision was made to turn the game more or less into a first person shooter. Currently the only servers which are running good are hihg loot PVP. Focus is fully on PVP and no one cares about suvrival elements. There is a metabolism system, a medical system, there is temparature, wet clothing and even the shadows are reacting like they should. But who cares,.... let just get some guns in 3 minutes and start hunting other player or raiding another base even though your own base has everything and even more of all what you need. After 2000 hours I quit when they implemented this unfortunate new spawn system.

bruh.. there is a bug with scopes for like half a year now.. bodys still disapear sometimes when you died (have to relog), the game crashes really often, they still couldn't handle the horde and zombie spawn situiation (even after they told us everything will be fine now), the whole gun jamming mechanic isn't in the game for over a year now, since they introduced armored vehicles you are not able to shoot properly if armor is of your car (1-2 years now?).. they do NOTHING against cheaters.. i can continue if you want, but im sure if i point everything out, this comment gets so long nobody will read it..

Large Squads like 12+ can run over a server easily. A vast majority of servers are empty. Get passed the top 100 servers (that aren't Chinese bot servers) and it's 1-4 players if your lucky. What a waste of money. The game initially started out strong in development, and once Jagex joined this game has simply gone into free fall. Runescape is their only game of note and that came out in 2001. It's worth pointing out Runescape developer Jagex announced upcoming pricing increases for Runescape membership costs. On September 27, 2024, the price of a membership subscription will increase from $12.49 USD per month to $13.99 USD per month. This company is simply of the old school of GREED over quality. Jagex have DLC for everything in Runescape. The future for SCUM looks pretty bleak, and now that the game is nearly 6 years in early development its actually starting to look dated. Still runs like crap if you have a decent sized squad. They keep adding stuff no one asked for. The puppets run right at you. The animals run right at you, until they flee then they run directly away from you. The drop ships drop right on you, until they flee then ascend directly upwards. Razors, Mr. Brenner, and Mechs come right at you they don't flee. Still predictable and boring. Will Tec 1 officers and Hunters be any different? Probably not. They'll charge you too. Yawn 🥱 It's tired and already feels old. Hopefully the Genre of survival games will continue but will SCUM be the one remembered? Currently doubtful. If this game has any chance of being saved it'll be done so by the modding community. This current development team simply don't have the skill set to take SCUM to the next level. They're out of GOOD ideas and it shows. To many content creators are laughable trying to hype this game into more than what is is. Raykit is about as successful as his servers. Edit- Also still shitting through your pants all these years later. Pathetic. 💩

Its a game with great potential and a lot of stuff to do. But it is NOT a survival game yet, at best it is a pvp game with survival and rpg elements. Also the gold+cash spawning makes it really not solo friendly so I tend to gravitate more towards dayz.... Dayz is pure survival. Scum-not so much sadly.

The game fell off since they changed zombie spawning. Walking into a city and clearing your way through but now it isnt the same and i gave it try and try again. Every update they just keep ignoring the main issues. Im hoping by 1.0 maybe abit after they can resolve it and make the game the awesome game it is meant too be, but i am unsure.

I started playing when 0.5 came out and it was funniest game to survive off scraps and as little gear possible but now the traders are a core feature that you have to get money for respawns otherwise your character gets a permadeath which forces players to interact with traders which is annoying and not fun at all animal spawns used to be great and you were able to track animals now you can’t. Now with the stupid new horde system the game has completely shit the bed clearing a area is completely pointless now due the puppets spawns constantly spawning where ever they like within your current vicinity. The map is massive which each sector have a bunker and loot that can keep players in a sector forever pretty much reducing interactions with players compare this with dayz players have to choose to stay on the coast containing low tier loot or start heading inland to compete with more players for better tier loot which is great keeps players always looking over their shoulder. In dayz your most likely going to to bump into player every hour or so unless you don’t want to be seen, but scum on the other hand I swear I never see a single soul if scum implemented the audio that dayz has for gun fire players would be able to hear players from a much further distance, the flying drone used to fly to players locations promoting pvp but that is long gone now.

Don’t be ridiculous😂 the game had a good concept but ruined by entitlement, poor leadership and greed. You can’t even encounter any sort of wildlife without playing a “mini game”…let me inform you-that system is in the game because the game wouldn’t handle animals running around on the server - causing too much lag and instability. So their solution to that is to have you play a mini game of “hide and track” so the game would spawn animals in your area… They removed birds a long time ago for the same reason. You loot one house, then come across a screamer, the house you looted earlier becomes packed with puppets again! And all of that ammo you wasted earlier was for nothing. Once again don’t be ridiculous…

I had a 3 year break from this game. Came back now and wtf? Spent around 60 hours then I stopped. I got so angry. Posted a review on Steam and after I started to google if the feeling was mutural 2024 or if was just me. Then I stumbled on this channel and this video. I agree with you 100%. I wrote this on Steam before I started to google and alot of that is what you bring up in this video. Thank you for outing them! My review: "Thousands of hours played in this game. Had a break for around 3 years. Just came back and... wtf did you do to this game? What is this "fortnite skins" type of shit you focus on. What happened? Building is shit. I just removed a stair going to the roof and 24 pieces of the roof got destroyed. Where is the bug fixes that you did so beautiful week after week. You guys where my favourite developers. You actually cared and worked on making it better. But this? I really don't understand wtf has happened to this game but it makes me sad. idk bro i got disagree on one thing, those hair dlcs and crap was easy 1-2step done content so it not really worth getting work up over. BUT, this game got some big ol problems and needs some direction. They started off strong with the tv show ideal and having criminals fight and survive on a island and I kin da like the scifi monster stuff but the actual game and its loop....is awful and feels so unfinished and lackluster. The games wants to do pvp but there is not a lot pvp and the game wants to do pve and it is also lacking and buggy and the enemies just popping up out nowhere feels weird. The survival elements are awesome but on most servers are undermined or even removed with loot and once you combine all this you got a rather boring and empty game The way its developing I can not see a good outcome and thats a shame
